Mini,

We have the exact same problem. has been on Pep Jr. for almost a

year now and is doing extremely well on it. The downside, however, is that

we cannot get a good grasp on solving his constipation. Dr. H recommend to

us to use Stage 1 prunes down his g-tube and that did help for a little

while. Now we're using Milk of Mag. down his tube and it doesn't seem to be

helping. So, I'm back to the drawing board looking for help again. Jodi you

had mentioned one technique you used with Max. Would you mind sharing

again? can go anywhere from 7-10 days without a BM. You can just

imagine the pain he's in when one finally happens. HELP!

Cheryl,

We used a medication called Kondrumel, I believe. It is available over the

counter, but I think you have to ask the pharmacist for it. It worked

wonders for Max. We also used glycerin suppositories.

If I have the name wrong, let me know and I will look it up again. I'm

almost certain, however, that this is correct.

Cheryl,

Perhaps this med would be better, but I thought I'd pass on something my

sister, who's a nurse, passed on for my mom, who had back surgery and nothing

else that was gentle would work (but this worked great): a pasty mix of prune

juice, All Bran cereal, and (I think) apple sauce. My sister said they used it

with great results in a nursing home where she had worked. I suppose your

child may have a dislike or intolerance for one of the ingredients, but if not,

you may want to give it a try...

P.S. - My mom tried the suppositories, too, but they didn't work.

Hi Meribeth,

She was fine for the first one month.

Thanks,

Meribeth,

I honestly don't remember when it became a big problem. He's been having

this problem for a while, but he's only been on Pep Jr. since December 2000.

I'm a triplet Mom so I have no brain for remembering anything these days. I

do know he used to just be constipated for a day or two and now he can go

7-10 days without a BM. It's just aweful!
