Thanks Dolores. Sorry! It was a lab that specialized in Lyme AND PCR testing.

Okay, so that's a P not a C. My bad. My understanding is that PCR tests

Myoplasmas, Lyme, Chlamydia Pneumonia (the respiratory infection not the std

one) etc...through PCR testing which is more accurate right? I have been tested

for Myoplasma and CP but not PCR method I dont think. What tests do people do

here for infections? I am trying to figure out which protocol to use...And what

is the name of the protocol where patients take mino, clydamidicin and flagyl? I

am debating between that one and the CAP, chlamydia pneuumonia because I tested

right on the border for C pneumoniae IgG Titer. They use Zithromax in place of

Clymidacin but also are on very different pulse. I get really confused though.

Hi Vicki, I'm at your same crossroads right now and getting ready to do the

Marshall Protocol in the fall. I know there are other protocols. You mentioned

PCR testing and CP.

Now you can enlighten me. What do those initials stand for. The protocol

which uses Zithromax is the Marshall Protocol. I have the entire Phase 1, Phase

2, and Phase 3 of that one and Zith is introduced during Phase 2. Lynne might

know as she worked in a lab, has had scleroderma longer than I and has a

scientific background. When you get the answers share them with me. Thank you,

Dolores

Hi Dodo;

I worked in labs alright but it was to analyse old

bone,pots,dirt....you name it. The archeology side of lab work only.I

know didly squat about our tests as mine were always normal. Not bad for

So, nobody knows what the initials PCR testing and CP mean except Vicki. Vicki,

don't keep us in the dark, what is it?

Hi there!

PCR stands for chain reaction (PCR). DNA is used to detect an intact organism

in the blood. A true-positive test result usually consists of more than one

positive test from the above list.

There are various tests used to detect mycoplasmas and v

various bacteria. Ie Western blot, (spelling ), IFA, they all test for

antibodies for the bacteria whereas PCR detects the genetic material of the

bacteria.

PCR testing is not done as frequently as antibody testing because it requires

technical skill and expensive equipment.

Some say this test is more accurate. When I went to a Lyme meeting they said

this test I should have had, same thing with another antibiotic board. I don't

have Lyme but the treatment for Sjogrens is the same. Traditional doctors say

there is no cure for my disease so this is why I will follow one of the AP

protocols.

CP is chlamydia pneumonia. They have a support group too. This is a

respiratory infections, NOT the STD chlamydia. The people who feel their

rheumatic condition was caused by CP (ie Lupus, MS, RA, CF, SS etc...) are on a

protocol called CAP. They take a specific protocol of Zithromax, Mino (or Doxy)

and Flagyl but the amounts they take are very specific to their program.

I do not know the name of the protocol that the 2 SS patients did well on,

They also took Mino, Flagyl but Clymidacin instead of Zith. And I heard their

regimine may be more tolerable. So this is what I am trying to decide, which one

of these to do.

I have ruled out the one where you only take Mino because it does not appear

it is enough, the SS patients took various meds and it appears to be because the

body becomes resistent to the bacteria so they take 3 different ones at specific

times.

And I decided against the Marshall Protocol because of the need to remove Vit

D from all food, remove sunlight, and the need to take blood pressure med.

Perhaps this is the ideal protocol, who knows. What I read about it made sense.

But so much of it is techinical so a lot I did not understand. I do know that

what I read about CAP also made despite the fact that it was the exact opposite,

you actually TAKE large amounts of Vit D.

So when I cannot decide which is in my best interest I thought I would do the

one that is easier on me. But again, I dont know which of the 2 to do, the CAP

which is more rigorous and includes Zith, Mino and Flagyl or the other whose

nmae I dont know (that a couple SS patients had success with) which includes

Mino, Clydamidicin and Flagy but I think at lower doses or less often, somehow

more tolerable than the other one.

Does anyone have an opinion on what I shouod do? Thanks!
