Guest guest
The link didn't get through on your message Stacey (to me anyway), so here it is again. Hope this works: _http://www.missouri.edu/~diabetes/ngsp.html_ (http://www.missouri.edu/~diabetes/ngsp.html) If the link doesn't survive getting through to the list, just paste this into your browser window. BTW, just got my latest A1c done & it's 5.6%, down from 5.7%. In reality, it's probably the same because that difference is certainly within the test specs. Dr is thrilled! He doesn't have anyone else even close to that! Anyway, I'm happy :<) Here's a chart from that site that compares HbA1c to average bg's. I hope this makes it through to the list. Just FYI If the chart doesn't survive, I'll just type it into a new post. 4 65 3.5 Non-Diabetic Range 5 100 5.5 6 135 7.5 7 170 9.5 ADA Target# 8 205 11.5 Above Target 9 240 13.5 10 275 15.5 11 310 17.5 12 345 19.5 , T2, etc.......... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> There is an organization, the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program (NGSP) that sets standards for a1c tests and results, and they are working hard to provide standards and certification to trace results to the DCCT (the trials that showed the importance of tight control) There's a place at this website to look up your own lab and see if it has been certified. If it has, then the results will match with all the other labs that have been certified, so it is possible to compare a1c results across various labs.
