Barb: it could be a number of things, a few of which you mentioned. It

could also be just one of those frustrating hair pulling occurrences

that one never figures out. It has happened to me when I first started

getting control too.

If it continues then let us know.

Take your temperature daily for awhile. You may be coming down with a

cold or some other kind of infection. My bgs are my early warning

system. I even had higher than usual bgs for about three days after I

broke my foot!

I had been to the doctor the day before for a badly sprained wrist. Never would

have connected it if you had not said something. Then I starved myself because

the bg was so high which I guess made my liver kick in more glucose. Viscous

cycle - live and learn - thanks for the input.

Glad you figured it out. I just increased the insulin for a couple of

days until everything settled down, but on oral meds only it was really

impossible to control the infection/trauma related rises. I now find

myself being super careful about where I walk in order to avoid any more

falls, even to picking up little pieces of paper from the floor - in my

house or anyone else's, LOL.

Carol,

I just got out of the hospital from a fall. I fell on my face, chiped some

teeth and swallowed the sharp pieces, on accidentm and tore my throat and my

pharynx. They think I fainted due to high blood sugar.

I wanted to warn diabetics regarding cellutius infections. (infections under

the skin). I had one which turned into flesh eating bacteria (necrotizing

fasciitis). A very rare complication of diabetes. About 75% of people who

get NF are diabetic. It is caused by the same bacteria which caused strep

throat, but in some (like in some diabetics) it can become antibiotic

resistant and invasive. Mortality rate is 80% in most regions, it masks as

the flu and is often misdiagnoised until it is too late.
