I take 75 mgs of Effexor and Trazadone at night. I am still losing weight.

I do get hungry and I do drink juice and my smoothie with high protein powder

and banna and yougurt all mixed in and lots of supplements. No problems at

all. I never felt better. lots of energy. My surgery was Jan 10 and I was

240 lbs. Now I am 210 lbs. I couldn't be more pleased or happier!!

Happy for you . I will say my prayers for you too. A whole new life

awaits you. It is a big adjustment, I will say, but as long as I feel good

and can finally breathe and sit up to the piano and play and sing like I did

years ago, I know I am on the right track. God has given us an awsome gift

and I count my blessings every single day, sometimes every minute.

<< Anyone taking anti

depressents post op??? Any feedback would be appreciated. >>

Hey, kiddo! I'm a Prozac Queen...have been for several years. Certifiable

Major Depression-Recurrent. (Hospitals, etc.) I haven't had any trouble

with my Prozac since the surgery...nor with my depression. My husband likes

to say: the mortality rate in the county is down considerably since I've

been on Prozac! He could tell you stories! Hey, I could tell you stories

that I've been too afraid/embarrassed to tell him! The thing about Prozac

is: it doesn't shellac or " hide " our personalities, it reveals them. I

can't tell you how much peace I've found in my life since I got the correct

dose of Prozac. Oh, I still fight to stay active and participate in my

life. I still have to be vigilent about my mood swings...but hey, I spend

more and more time out of bed and out from under the quilts than I ever did

before Prozac.

Chill, girl! Dee in MI.

Thanks and congrats on the weight loss.

The only side effect I can see so far is drowsiness. UGH.

I was having a hard enough time with energy and now this. LOL

Oh well...At least I am calm and not taking everyones head off.

I take Celexa, which is such a new drug here in the US that it isn't even in

the PDR yet. I have found it to be very easy to get used to, with very mild

(if any) side effects like drowsiness.

<< Flinstone Complete >>

na, you're about the tenth person who's settled on Flintstone Complete

among my acquaintances. Must be something helpful about those; they are

widely recommended by open RNY surgeons here in MI. Thanks for the tip; if

my good ole One Source ever get too difficult to deal with, I'll switch to

your brand. Dee in MI.

I love effexor too, as does my family. Even my son will say, " Mom, did you

miss a pill? " I like it BECAUSE it doesn't feel like I am taking a drug. One

thing I have learned about depression medication is that it is VERY

individual. One drug that is GREAT for one person will not work for someone

else. I took Welbutrin (sp) and had a horrible reaction, I was nearly

violent. It is important (IMHO) to go to a good psychiatrist who specializes

in mood disorders and is willing to work with you until he/she gets it right.

Thankfully, there are a lot of tricks in the bag when in comes to treating

depression. Don't settle for something that gives you lots of side effects

if you don't have to.

That is interesting, because I am not sure that Effexor is right for me. I

seem to still have anxiety and am jittery sometimes. I am taking 75 mgs.

Would you mind telling me how many milligrams you take? I was taking 150

milligrams and had to reduce down to 75 after surgery. My sister takes

Celexa and she seems to be doing really well. Guess I should call my

psychiatrist back and see what he says. I just hate changing meds and trying

new ones. Especially antidepressants as you never know what to expect. I

took Prozac for several years and finally it simply quit working for me and

then I HAD to change. Keep me posted.

I take 37.5 of Effexor twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed.

I had the same issue with Prosac, it worked for a long time and then simply

stopped working. Funny stuff, these brain chemicals!

Good luck and don't ever give up!
