Guest guest
Hey Earl - Here is my Bio. Sorry I took so long to get it to you. I shortened it from my original bio. And updated it. I could not get on line last night to send it to you. See ya and God bless, Jane I forgot to mention one thing...with your bio submission, please in the following format, which will be easlier for me also.Name: Jane E. Dittner Email: poetgirl@...Date of Birth: 11-18-52Location: Burlington, Iowa USABio: I have only had brain tumors. First tumor partially removed in 1970 at Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital. Enough tumor removed to regain normal vision. It had been double. The tumor regrew back to cause the double vision again by October of 1974. 2nd Surgery unsuccessful. 3rd Surgery one week later which was successful as far as removing part of the original tumor and total removal of a second tumor in the back of my head on the same side (right). But also lost all of my formerly perfect hearing in right ear and total paralysis on right side of face. Partial paralysis on right side of throat. Doctors did not mention to me to lubricate my right eye. Two years later after the 3rd surgery I lost my vision in right eye. I was dismissed from these doctors in 1976. They did not know what was causing the brain tumors. In 1986 I went to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics (Iowa City, Iowa). Closer to home. I had my first MRI to check on my existing brain tumor. It was fine. No growth but a new tumor was developing on my left audio nerve. I was told I would be totally deaf eventually. We monitored the tumor with annual MRI's. In November 1996 I had my 4th brain surgery. At that point I could only hear sound. My tumor(s) were growing rapidly. Also, it was at this time I was told I had NF2. The doctors removed 3 tumors around my audio nerve and placed an ABI. My ABI does not function. I sustained partial paralysis in my left side of fact. I still have vision in my left eye. I work full time. My balance is not good. I use a cane for unfamiliar areas. When I am tired I use the cane even in familiar areas. I fall down occassionaly. All and all I am doing very well. I do have breathing problems on occasion. Sinus drainage clogs up my airway passage. I attribute that problem to the paralysis in my throat sustained from 3rd surgery. I just had my annual MRI December 13th, 2001. My original tumor has grown 2 milometers. Other tumors in my head have not grown. We just monitor them by annual MRI's. Thanks Everyone,~Earl
