Guest guest
My husband has UC (diagnosed 18 years ago). Before the diet, he lived on white french bread, pepsi, pretzels, chips, cookies, steaks, and sandwiches. He was somewhat solid and not bleeding just before starting the diet, but he has had cycles of bleeding with more urgency since being on the diet. He has never been in remission in the 18 years, but has had cycles of good and bad. He takes Asacol, 6MP, and Lomotil. When he started the diet, he felt much better overall. He got a little more solid, too. Four months into the diet, he started bleeding again and had more urgency. He's been trying to ride it out. He's very strict with the diet, but, admittedly, he drinks a lot of elli's sparkling apple juice. (I've researched elli's and eveven found a court document saying they only use apples). Now, 6 months into the diet, he had white rice at one meal, then french fries and french bread the next night. After eating these, he said he had a comfortable full feeling. He is now more solid again and has less urgency. We both expected him to get worse or have pain. I don't understand why he got " better " , at least as far as symptoms go. Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone explain it?
