Guest guest
Hello, Considering that I was hypo and taking a beta blocker – would that have meant that it was preventing the T4 from converting into T3 which then made me hyper? On the other hand, with what you say about the T3 pooling and the ferritin taking it into the cells making one hyper – could that have been a reason for making me hyper? Looking for answers that doctors obviously don’t know and don’t care about. Thank you, Liz R. Guest guest
Whew! Thank you so much. I have felt so bad today it's been scary. I've dealt with CFS for years, but that didn't include weakness, wobbly knees, feeling like I was just going to collapse. I'd wondered if maybe I should take a bit of T3, but didn't understand why I'd gone from hyper to this weakness, and so quickly. Your explanation makes complete sense to me. I've now taken some T3, will work with the dose over the next few days, and will post again if the problem persists or new ones arise. Again, I am so grateful for the huge public service you and Val do here. Peggy Re: crashing hard--please help >I had 3 iron IV's in the past week that were intended to help me take T3 meds. Guest guest
Thanks, Nick. I took a 15 mcg dose of T3, which is half of my former daily dose. Within an hour, the weakness I'd been feeling had mostly dissipated, and I was feeling a little hyper. So I probably took too much at once. But this experience does support the idea that I needed T3, agreed? The other thing that has happened since I took the T3 about 3 hours ago is that I've begun sweating like crazy. I'm normally freezing, and for years have worn 3-4 layers of clothes in all but the hottest weather. The U-turn in the opposite direction seems like overkill--too fast. My temp is normal, so is b.p. What does the sweating tell me? Just want to know so I can monitor the T3 dosage by symptoms. Thanks so much. Thanks so much. http://thyroid-rt3.com/temperat.htm has a discussion around this gleaned from past posts Gut feeeling say it's adrenal, you may have depressed cortisol as a result of the " relatively big " dose of T3 and then pumped adrenaline instead. I took half the daily dose at once because I take SR T3. Do you still recommend spreading it out more, even with SR? I normally take it twice a day--first thing in the a.m. and again around 2:00 (because the compounding pharmacist warned me if I took it later it could keep me awake, and I hate insomnia). >>http://thyroid-rt3.com/temperat.htm has a discussion around this gleaned from past posts...Gut feeling say it's adrenal, you may have depressed cortisol as a result of the "relatively big" dose of T3 and then pumped adrenaline instead...Little and often is the best mantra. This does explain the sweatiness I had, even while being cold--I took too much T3 and adrenaline kicked in. So I obviously need to back off on the amount taken at any one time. Which brings me back to the question--two small doses, or more than two? I've tried regular T3, both before and after the iron IV's. It caused hyper symptoms both times. After I'm more stable, I'll try it again. Peggy

They are wrong, T3 at bed time helps sleep quality enormously. If you are going to take SR then 12 hours apart would be better Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com

If you are going to take SR then 12 hours apart would be better... My fault for failing to post complete info. I'll follow your advice and move my second dose to 12 hours after my first. As I know you recommend regular T3, I will try it again once I'm stable on a decent dose of SR. After following your advice yesterday, my weakness got progressively better and I had a good night's sleep for the second night in a row. I'd emailed my doctor the previous day describing the unpleasant symptoms I was having. He finally replied last night. Guess what? His recommendations were exactly the same as yours. Having a doc whose thinking is in line with what's endorsed here--wow! The only problem was that he wasn't available when I needed him. You were--thanks again!
