Guest guest
Hi Yolanda, Would an MRI of the pelvis show " backwash " back into the kidneys? Did you have the ultrasound done in the gyns office or did you have it done by a technician? Do you have hydronephrosis also? Thanks again, > Hi , > > My largest fibroid is pressing down on one of my ureters (the tubes > that go from the kidneys to the bladder) and causing some " backwash " > of the back into the kidney. Guest guest
Hi , I couldn't tell you if an MRI would show the " backwash " . I had an utlrasound done in the gyn's office by a technician. The term, hydronephrosis does ring a bell. Are you experiencing the same? Guest guest
Hi Yolanda, My uterus compresses my bladder so reading your posts has scared me into thinking that I am damaging my kidneys. When you had the kidney ultrsound did you have to drink a lot of water like you do for a pelvic ultrsound? Thanks,
Guest guest
: I have the same problem. An x-ray showed my uterus just sitting on top of my bladder. At the same time I had the pelvic and vaginal ultrasound, I had the kidney ultrasound. I didn't need to have the full bladder for the kidney ultrasound. I also had an IVP so they could check my kidneys, since the kidney ultrasound found hydronephrosis. This is why I'm getting a hysterectomy in a few months, so my bladder function can be back to normal! Caryn

Guest guest
Hi , Yes, I drank 16ozs (not the horrific 32ozs) of water. First they did the abdominal, then the kidneys. Even though they found that my largest fibroid is pressing on the ureter, Dr Levine stressed I don't need an emergency operation. Pregnant women have the same problem sometimes. The body can handle it for a few months. He did say, however, that I shouldn't wait six months or so to have the myo. Also, I'm not sure that just because it presses on your bladder it means it's pressing on your ureter. You might want to check it out for peace of mind, though. I'm amazed that in all my years of having rather large fibroids not one doctor ever thought to check my kidneys.
