Guest guest
I think you're going to get a variety of answers on this question! When I began the WW program on June 1st 2003, I was very afraid to eat anything after dinner. But after hearing from people on this group who have successfully lost and kept off lots of weight, and who did so by eating every single night before bedtime, I ventured out and tried it. I began to save points for a nighttime snack and now I can happily say I would NEVER want to give up my late-night snack! As Tory would say, your body doesn't really know or care what time it is that you're eating..... just stay within your points and you'll lose weight! But like I said, you'll undoubtedly hear the opposite from some people! Bette 278/201/
Guest guest
I used to stay up until 3am, until I got a 9-6 job in TV. Now I manage to get to bed by 12-1am. I stop eating at 8pm, but if I'm feeling really strong pangs of hunger at 10 or so...and I have the points to spare...I'll have a 2pt. Snack. I think eating late can affect your weight loss, unless you're very physically active until 3am. =) Me on the other hand...well, I would spend it on-line or playing video games, so that food wasn't going anywhere. =) Try to stop eating at 9-10pm and see if it helps. And just keep yourself busy and away from the kitchen. 175/156.6/130 When Do you stop eating for the night? When do you stop eating for the night? How many hours before you go to bed? I am a night owl, usually up until 3 a.m. Any opinions on this subject would be great! Thanks! Katfuzzwwec29

Guest guest
I usually don't eat past 7 or so. On the days that I work, I don't eat past 4, because that's when my break is. My stomach doesn't handle night eating well... I know a lot of people that eat at night and still lose weight, so you shouldn't worry too much!!! in OKC <>< 238/192.2/188 > When do you stop eating for the night? Guest guest
I eat up until I head for bed. Sometimes I do feel that I've saved too many points for the evening, but the next day I just try to even it out and leave no more than six. (Sometimes we just end up having a low point dinner.) It never slowed my weight loss at all. > When Do you stop eating > for the night? > > > When do you stop eating for the night? Guest guest
I bet you will get a variety of answers on this one. So many studies have been done, some saying it is not a good idea and then another saying it does not make any difference. I think it is a personel preference anyway. If your late night eating is not hampering your weight loss, you shouldn't worry too much about it, especially when your up til 3 am or so, I would be hungry too. I tend to stop by 8 pm at least. If I need something because I stay up later, I will have a couple of just plain dry crackers. I usually hit the sack around 11:30 to midnight. But the only reason I don't eat later is because of stomach problems, for which I do take medications. So it has become an ablolute must that I quit around then or even a little earlier like 7:30 or so, or I will have one terrible sleepless night. Not because I just don't believe in night eating or all that stuff. Many people's bodies can handle it quite nicely I guess. I love the majority of my points starting from somewhere around that 3:30 - 4:00 pm mark up until around the 8 pm mark, but no later. This may sound like a short time frame to use most of one's points, but I find this is when I ALWAYS seems to REALLY be hungry and have more cravings. And the cravings can be a killer with not enough points for me. I figure if this is what it take for this body to feel more satisfied then so be it. When I first started WW I was dividing my points out throughout the day. My mornings would get 5-6 points and lunch another 5-6-7. I finally realized I was not doing myself any favor, because I did not need that many at those times, and when I really needed them, I had little to use. It took me some time but I got it adjusted to help me better. But I may try something new here in the way I count my points like someone mentioned yesterday and count my supper meal as my starting points for the day. This should prove interesting, just to get up in the morning and already have points used. It may not be for me, but there is only one way to know, and that is try it.. So I guess to each his own. ~~Kallie~ -------------------------------------------------------------------- In Serious-Weight-Watchers , " katfuzzwwec29 " <katfuzzwwec@y...> wrote: > When do you stop eating for the night? Guest guest
I usually just lurk, but I thought I would chime in on this question. I am a serious late night eater - mainly because I have a toddler and I don't have that many chances to eat during the day! I tend to go to bed about 2 hrs later than my husband and I always have a snack after he goes to bed. It hasn't affected my weight loss - I am a returning lifetime member, and I have lost 17 lbs since 1/31 with only 1 week with a gain. Stacey > When do you stop eating for the night? Guest guest
Thank you all for the replies. Yesterday I spread my points out more, and I had a snack of strawberries at about 1 am. I went to bed at 3am as always. I felt alright, and I think I slept better. I was thinking that my heavy late night eating might have been causing this (sleep trouble). I can be very resistant to change..never want to change my routine for risk of gaining weight. As far as I could tell it hasn't effected my weight loss, been pretty consistant. I will try to stop at 12 am to 1 am again tonight. Thanks again. Katfuzzwwec29
Guest guest
Trial and error is the best way to figure out how your body uses up fuel. =) My weight loss started to slow down and that's when I decided to quit eating after 8pm. It worked for me, but than again it might just be concidence that I started to lose after changing that part of my routine. I used to " attempt " to eat 6 smaller meals a day, but that never worked for me. I can't just drop everything and eat a meal bar at work... Plus, there's conflicting evidence over whether it assists w/ weight loss. It definitely helps your metabolic rate and blood sugar levels, which can play a part in weight loss... but " there's not enough research to support it as a weight loss tool. " (I'm quoting that last bit from a Dr.'s report.) =) Now, I just split my points up like this- brk= 3pts.....lunch= 8-10pts.....dinner=10-14pts. I'll usually try to have a 2-3 pt. snack somewhere in between lunch and dinner, but that's only if I'm starving. Some people have mentioned to me that they can't imagine eating so many points in one sitting, but it's always worked out ok for me. There's no right or wrong. As long as you stay w/in your point range than you'll do awesome. Keep us updated on what ends up working for you. That way if I end up hitting another plateau, I can try out your routine. =) 175/156.6/130 -----Original Message----- From: katfuzzwwec29 Yesterday I spread my points out more, and I had a snack of strawberries at about 1 am. Guest guest
I usually eat right up until bedtime. I like to have dinner around 7, and then snacks from 8-10 (not the entire time, but during that time is when I consume my snacks/dessert). I usually head to bed no later than 11, but if I have to get up early for a run, by 10 or 10:30. April
