My third chemo went very well considering the nightmare of chemo

number two. All my home meds were changed and felt so much better.

THANK YOU to everyone for all your help.

Over the weekend I spoke to a friend who had breast cancer. I

explained what hed been happening and she brought up a point about

my doctor. #1)Why am I her only patient? Even after 6 months in this

area and 4 months with me as her patient why am I still the only

patient!

#2) Exactly who is she and where is she from?

Well Monday I called the office and ended up un a shouting match

with her secretary! I explained why I called, my concerns and she

became very insulted! So I demanded to know where this doctor had

practiced before! The two hospital names given to me do not exist! I

explained that I lived in that area for over 30 years and I know the

hospitals! I'm tired of all the mixed messages! The staff at the

hospital I get chemo at don't even know her! Not only that but you

lied to them!

#1)When ever I go for blood work I'm never on the schedule! You told

the nurse who called that I get my blood work done at your " second

office " !I have never been to your second office! (which by the way

only opened about 4 days ago.) Maybe it was an out of experience? I

know I never had blood drawn at her office.

#2) You told the nurse that I was going start chemo at your office!

I'm not going to get chemo at your office! Who's going to do it? Me

myself and I?! If you haven't noticed for the past 4 months the only

people in the office when ever I've been there have you me and the

doctor makes three! YOU HAVE NO OTHER STAFF!!

#3)I had to keep calling my insurance because you didn't know how to

get per certs, formulary information or who to call for anything!

That's your job not mine! I even gave you the website to go to get

the formulary and get any information you needed!I'm not a guinee

pig! I want answers!

twenty minutes later the dcotor called me and wanted to know what

was wrong. So I explained to her that wanted to know WHO SHE WAS! I

can't find anything on the internet except for her office address. I

explained that I'm tired of her telling me " just lie down it's only

the chemo " when ever I feel very sick! It took me calling my cancer

co-ordinator to get my meds straighten out!

She told me " You should feel happy that your getting individual

care! Most doctors aren't like that! "

I told her " I called around the entire state. Did you know that

there is 2 to 3 month waiting list at every office for a second

opinion? That proves that I'm NOT the only cancer patient in this

state! Why am I your only patient? Why don't you know that your

office has to call to schedule my weekly blood work at the hospital?

Why don't you know the staff at the hospital?!

After a long talk she agreed to look into why her secretary had not

made calls to make my scheduled appointments or knew how to contact

my insurance. She agreed to go and speak with the nurses and also

gave me her proper credentials (*that I later checked thru the

cancer society). She did practice oncology with a group for 10 years

however not in any of the two towns her half wit secretary told she

practiced in.

I spoke to my cancer co-ordinator again who re assured me and I

finally agreed that I would finish my last 3 treatments as long it

was at the same hospital with the same staff because I trusted them.

They always answered my questions and were very good to me when I

expained my concerns.

Today when I went for my blood work and I spoke to the the co-

ordinator of the unit where I get my chemo. She told me to call her

first if I get sick or have any problems. She would call and make

sure that the doctor knew how important it is to handle any and all

medical complaints.

Afterwards I went to the doctors office for my regular appointment

and I almost fell over! Suddenly there is a nurse on staff and LOW

AND BEHOLD! There were 2 other (new) patients there! It looked like

normal doctors office!
