Hi Jodi,

Is taking probiotics or eating the SCD 24 hour fermented yogurt

contraindicated when one is taking prednisone? I am taking prednisone,

but also eat the

SCD yogurt. Now after reading your post I wonder if I should or should

not be doing this.

Thanks,

Hi Yana,

This sounds exactly like me!

While on the diet I had to go on Prednisone after getting very ill eating contaminated

meat from Whole Foods which led to a meat recall.

Anyway, Prednisone helped me from going in that danger zone but I totally

stagnated with food. Could only eat meat (chicken and beef) zucchinis and

squash eventually some brocolli and homemade juice that was heavily diluted.

Prednsione " stopped " me from progressing. I could not take any

probitics or yogurt.

Eventually this situation led me into looking into LDN or Lowdosenaltrexone.org

which helped me successfully wean off of Prednisone with also supplementing

DHEA (to help adrenals. My DHEA levels are like non-existent)

It is very frustrating feeling stuck!

Jodi

The probiotics and/or SCD yogurt is wonderfully healing. In general, it

should not be a problem even if one is on prednisone.

However, some people can have anomalous reactions and must do things in a

careful sequence.

How are YOU doing on it?

Thanks for the clarification on prednisone and yogurt, Marilyn.

I think I was confusing potential problems with taking

prednisone and eating yogurt with potential problems with taking antibiotics

and eating yogurt. I am still trying to sort out all of the SCD details

and get this diet right! The prednisone is not helping with that as it

makes my thinking very scattered, hard to focus, etc. Reading the posts

from this group is a big, big help. Thanks for everyone who responds with

answers and information.

As for me and how I am doing on the yogurt, just fine, at least

for now. I am concerned that the prednisone I am taking is masking

symptoms. Time will tell. As I wean off the prednisone, if I find

symptoms return I will have to go back to strict into diet to figure out which

foods are causing me problems. I have learned this by reading the posts

from this group, so it has been very helpful to me.
