Guest guest
Hi Eilzabeth, I have Crohn's but I do have extensive disease in my large intestine. I used to have -exactly- what you describe. Have you tried epsom salt baths? What about a hot water bottle on your belly? Jodi
Guest guest
Thanks Jodi. This may sound silly but just reading your post was comforting.Just knowing that you understood, and knew the PAIN I am talking about.Oh and I feel so weak. Should I talk to my GI about checking nutrient status.I was slightly anemic before this bad flare and I quit my iron supplements when I started SCD. I feel like I need lots of vitamins and minerals.Ugh!Any experience with this? Thoughts. You have been so helpful and I really appreciate.Hope I can return the favor some day. )Sent from my iPhone Hi Eilzabeth, I have Crohn's but I do have extensive disease in my large intestine. Guest guest
Hi , I feel comforted to when I read of others experiences!! That is what makes this place so great- no matter what you will find someone at some point with the same struggles that can help be a guide. Yeah, if you are feeling that weak (which I did too) it is important to stay monitored and get your bloods checked especially if you are worried. I could never tolerate Iron neither in supplements or IV's. As my blood counts have gotten better (hemoglobin and such from needing to be transfused) my Iron counts and TIBC and Iron Saturation are still very very low. If I try and increase iron rich foods I get Gout- so I have to do the slow and steady route. But maybe you can try some more iron rich foods like liver or using a cast iron pan? Squeeze some fresh lemon juice on your steak too- the vitamin C helps us absorb the Iron although I am skeptical as many of us have damage in the area of the gut where iron is absorbed. But, it is totally worth a try to see if you feel better. Do you have an option maybe to see an integrative doctor? I get mineral/vitamin IV's every week- sometimes they make me absolutely exhausted and thirsty- some people have problems absorbing so I have had to fine tune with my doc what works for me. The IV's though after this fine tuning have really helped. Maybe you can make yourself some bone broth and add Ghee to food? Keeping fat intake up can really help with satiation and exhaustion. You may be going through die-off too which just means you need to take it easy and drink plenty of fluids. Are you using any probiotics? Can you tolerate epsom salt baths? That is a good way for the body to absorb Magnesium although some can't tolerate it. Jodi

Guest guest
To reduce gas and bloating there s two easy things to do. 1. Don't eat fruit with meals. Eat Fruit as a snack in between meals. Fruit digests very quickly. If eaten for desert after a full meall it will sit on top of the other food you eat and ferment. Creating gas. 2. Don't drink anything 15 minutes before meals and 1 hour after. This will help improve digestion

Guest guest
AL, So true.. I do this all the time including knees to chest. Laying on the right side relieves upper GI issues for me.
