Guest guest
Hi all, Happy New Year! I haven't been online for awhile due to houseguests staying in our room with the computer. We had a fabulous second Christmas with our twins. Hope everyone else had wonderful holidays as well. As a lot of you know, Colin is g-tube fed because he would not eat anything by mouth. Well I taught him to drink out of a sippy cup this week! Pretty amazing! It is so funny because his twin sister never learned to hold a bottle and as a result won't drink out of a cup. I give the cup to Colin and he thinks it is hilarious! So today I tried whole milk and he drank some of it. Of course his sister stole the cup from him and was splashing milk all over the carpet, but it is a huge step for Colin. He is now walking all over the place. It is so cute to see him toddling around. His twin sister is about 5 weeks behind and just started walking last week. Life is going to get even more crazy with two walking toddlers! About the g-tube stuff, I was reading back on many of the posts in the last couple of weeks and many of you are so worried about having to go that route. I think it was the best decision we made for Colin. He is on track with his gross motor skills, sleeps 12-13 hours a night, has gained 6-1/2 lbs. & 4 " in 5 mo. on the tube, and is above average with his cognitive abilities (which was my big worry with the lack of food). I know he will eat by mouth some day. I see the changes in him every day. We just have to get over the reflux and I think he'll make great strides. So anyway, just wanted to let you know it really isn't bad at all. Feel free to email me if you want more info. Colin (RSS) and Hayden - almost 13 mo.
