Guest guest
Debbie, If by chance your insurance doesn't cover the Remicade (mine decided that it was experimental- so therefore not covered), you can contact Remicade directly and ask for their Patient Assistance Program. This program will give you the drug without cost if you qualify. They send you an application and if you're approved they ship the drug to the infusion center directly within 24 hours so you can start treatment. Sometimes people get full coverage for the cost of the Remicade, some of it's on a sliding scale depending on your income. In most states, your insurance company has 30 days to review your request and notify you if they will cover the treatment. If it's been longer than that, call your insurance company directly- not the MD's office-- and ask to speak with someone in medical review- explain that the request has been sent to start Remicade- and they should get you to the right people. Once you have the denial from your insurance, then you can apply to the Patient Asst. Program. I called ahead and had the paperwork here by the time I got the insurance denial. To get the phone number for Remicade, just type in Remicade in your search engine, and then go to the main site-- it will list phone numbers and from there- Remicade (Centocor) will get you transferred to the dept that can best help you. I found they were - EXTREMELY-- helpful. (Nice change from most of the stuff we deal with . ) Hope this helps, Tracie

Guest guest
Marla, Remember, it goes by bottom line, not gross. And if your insurance doesn't cover it- because of it being "experimental" then you'll need the help. Since you wouldn't qual for state aid, then private pay or subsidy might work. Guest guest
Tracie, That is great news about help from the company, we kind of fall in the cracks of the system. My husband is self employed and has to pay for all of our health ins. just increase "again" to about $900/mo, then we have big deductibles and copays, etc..... But for those of you that can do, it really sounds like a good thing if you can get the drug company to help you out. excuse my rattling on!!
