The trick is to get all the necessary steps done before COBRA runs out (18 months is all we get, right?) I was on COBRA as well and mine ran out but I was able to get Kaiser insurance privately. Call Kaiser Patient Services and ask them about switching from COBRA to private if you hit the 18 month mark. Let's hope you don't have to. Otherwise, COBRA shouldn't make a difference - Kaiser just wants to know it will be paid...
