Guest guest
Dear , Isn;t it SOOOOO frustrating - I really feel for you. Nothing new to suggest unfortunately...... Finlay also wakes up and pukes every morning - not nice at all. And when he has a cough the vomiting definetely is worse - through the winter we have used flixotide and ventolin to reduce his coughing also a cough suppressent - polaramine occasionally helps....I forget now whether Colin had a nissan fundoplication at the same time as his g tube surgery - that apparantly reduces the incidence of vomiting significantly but is yet another invasive procedure. Well all I can say is good luck and I will be thinking about you!

Guest guest
According to my discussions with Dr. H in writing the newest RSS brochure, " reflux " is not technically vomiting. " Reflux " is the " movement of food up from the stomach into the food tube " (causing pain); " delayed stomach emptying " results in " vomiting or frequent spitting up. " I had no idea of this until Janelle Jovanovichand her parents went to NY to see Dr. H and found this out and let me know. I looked it up and it was correct - although even peds drs commonly refer to the whole thing as " reflux. " What medication, if any, is Colin on for the vomiting? I can not recall - is he on a G-tube? If so, could the big morning puke be that he has " slow stomach emptying " and hence, the food being put in by the G-tube has accumulated too much and too long? Have you asked your local endo or GI doctor what they think? I know that some kids have only had success with Nissan Fundalplications (I think I spelled it wrong). > Hi, > Colin is 10.5 mo. and still refluxing here. Guest guest
, I feel your frustation with the whole vomiting thing. TJ who is not 2 1/2 had reflux as an infant. I say had because I thought he did outgrow it. He had a g-tube put in about 8 weeks ago and guess what is back - reflux. Actually, he probably has been refluxing all along just not bad enough to make him vomit. He will start on Zantac tonight. Fortunetly, TJ has only been vomiting once per day. The unfortunate part for me is that it is always between midnight and 4am. The food/formula just builds up in his stomach and needs to come out. One suggestion I have appreciated it putting several sheets/matress pads on at the same time. When he does vomit all I have to do is peel off a layer rather than change the whole bed. What formula is Colin taking? TJ is on Petiman Jr. which is supposed to be better than pediasure for those with reflux as it is already partially digested. Guest guest
Hi All... Just a question to Meribeth and those whose kids vomit through the night...When had his spell of reflux, I found that for him, if I raised the head of his mattress or bed a little, it seemed to keep it down until he was up and moving, mostly after b'fast. Would this help anyone? Kinda keeps it down in the tummy for the night. Guest guest
Hi Jennnifer, Interesting info, but unfortunately we tried the erthryomycin that Dr. H recommended for delayed emptying and it made the vomiting much worse! I'm sure that is why he is throwing up in the morning though. He gets 16-17 oz. overnight and it is a lot for him to digest. He is on prilosec and in general things were improving before he picked up this cough, but I just want it to go away altogether! > > Hi, > > Colin is 10.5 mo. and still refluxing here. Guest guest
Hi Meribeth, Sorry to hear the vomiting is back. We are fortunate that Colin hasn't thrown up in the middle of the night more than once or twice. His is usually right when he wakes up. Hopefully TJ's body will get used to it and this will decrease. Is he eating orally during the day? Colin is on prilosec for vomiting and still takes regular enfamil formula. I think they'll change that at one year. Good luck! > , > > I feel your frustation with the whole vomiting thing. TJ who is not 2 > 1/2 had reflux as an infant. I say had because I thought he did > outgrow it.
