Guest guest
Hey yall' Don't post much but monitor all the time. This is such a great forum when you are first starting out. Marilyn and others are SOOO supportive and helpful when you dont have a clue what you are doing or where you are trying to get to. I think I was lucky enough to get flooded @ 7mo. into my SCD journey. I have gotten used to a VERY restricted diet and never really experimented. They say that anything you do 30 times becomes a habit. Well my diet was so restricted by my cooking circumstances that I don't crave things I can't have. Such as crackers and pies and such. I have learned to live with little-- This is so invaluable to me. I recently suggested the diet to someones friend and she said, " I don't think she could be that disciplined " . I don't consider myself " disciplined " , its just the way I have to eat. Food shouldn't be painful, and it is for so many of us. I tell everyone, its easy to follow a diet when the repercussions are immediate and painful. As I remain symptom free basically,I do occasionally give into a craving. Chocolate twice- no problems. Taco Bell-- a combo burrito-Should not have done that!! I drink milk when I feel like it without problems, but had a huge problem with an organic string cheese last week. I live and learn every day on SCD. Family and friends often ask me if this is forever and my answer is " NO " --but. Once your intestines rebel against you, you realize how important they are, and how much you will do to make them happy. Folks without intestinal disease will never understand the agony of having to know where every BR is or carrying extra clothes with you or not knowing whether its your period or a flare. SCD to me is an easy choice. And it works for me. UC 1/08 SCD 12/
