Guest guest
I'm not Val, but I have dealt with skin reactions for 22 years now. I don't know why it happens but all my outbreaks have been worse at bedtime/overnight. I now assume it is to do with cortisol rhythyms, etc. When I was at my worst (hideous eczema for 14 months solid) the nights were unspeakable. I believe you said you were taking Zyrtec, and I thought I'd mention that is one that just doesn't work for me. For me chlorpheniramine (chlortrimeton) works best. I have a friend for whom it is also very effective for skin allergies. Most docs don't know chlorpheniramine works for skin reactions, as well as inhaled allergies and won't even mention it as a possibility. And there is a protocol for using H2 blockers along with the H1 blockers (chlortrimeton, zyrtec, benedryl, etc). This protocol has been a great help to me when my allergies are really kicking up bad. Though it is written for hives, it also is effective for eczema. http://www.postgradmed.com/issues/2001/02_01/krishnaswamy.htm I hope this gets better for you. I'm doing pretty well since going up on HC, but I still do have to take antihistamines every day of my life. A good day is when I only have to take chlorpheniramine at bedtime, and don't need daytime doses of that and/or Zantac. sol nafoel wrote: > Forgot to add: the itching and rash begin at bedtime. > >
