Guest guest
Hi Rose, Congratulations on your disability. I have just had my pre-assessment disability payments refused by my superannuation. And all due to conflicting doctors reports. The rheumatologist at the hospital has said that his estimation is that I will be infirmed for at least the next six months. However my GP says it may be 2 years or more before it is clear what recovery if any I will make. That it is too early to know at this stage what my response to treatment will be. That the condition is sometimes terminal but other times is able to be managed with good medical care. So based on this advise they have determined that I am not eligible for total and permanent disability payments, and meanwhile financially my family is going down the drain. We are struggling to just buy food at the moment and quite often have to rely on charitable organisations for food vouchers or parcels to survive. I had a partner who has since left because he didn't understand the condition and couldn't cope with the extra burden of having to look after the kids, and the home etc. and couldn't deal with the way I'm dealing with this newly diagnosed condition and my lack of understanding of it. So I'm not doing real well right now and keep asking what I have done wrong in my life to deserve this. Any suggestions as to how long this condition lasts, or how many of you have successfully managed to return to work? I have been off work now for over 6 months and I feel no better, probably worse, than the day I first got sick. Luv Toni
