I have a mito child and I recently started to give him flaxseed oil every day and I've seen a big improvement in his energy level. I also give him Juice plus blend citris vitamins and corral complex from the same company that has tons of minerals you cant find in food.

Flaxseed supplies a good amount of the good fats (esp. omega 3), which are so important to the brain. I have read a number of reports of the use of flaxseed in assisting in the control of epilepsy. We have been using it with for years, and have no doubt it is one of the things that is helping to keep him as healthy as he is.

Hi Everyone, Do any of you give your kids flaxseed oil? My sister tried it and saidshe has a lot more energy so I thought I'd try it. I wanted to try it onthe boys, but I don't know how much to give them. I can get it in liquidand soft gel form. It's really cheap too! Any suggestions or comments? I posted the original post regarding this. Flaxseed oil has Omega 3

and other essential oils. My sister said it is better than fish oil because

it does have other oils in it. I haven't noticed any difference in my kids,

but I'm still giving it to them. It's an OTC thing so a script is not

necessary. I ordered mine from Puritain's Pride. It was on sale and thus

VERY cheap. I got softgels for me and liquid for the boys. The liquid

has 4600+ mg of flaxseed oil per 5ml and to me that is too high to start

with so I give the kids 1cc of it with meals. It goes right into their

buttons so it doesn't get stuck on the sides of the tube. I don't know

how much to give kids. It says on the bottle that it's not intended for

children, but we all know our-kids are different.

I just read this also, I have a 16 month old with suspected mito and I am wondering if this would help. How much do you give?

It is an Omega-3 class mineral that the bodies cellular structure needs to function properly. My psyiatrist told me about it. You get it at the supermarket...It is with all the other vitamins and I give Connor 2 capsules a day. He gets G-tube fed only so I open up the capsules and drip the oil into his mito cocktail. I heard you can take alot more but on the bottle it says adult daily dose is 3 caps a day so I give Connor 2. Sorry this took so long to answer. Good Luck!
