Guest guest
HI! I just had a vestibulectomy 6 weeks ago and am doing pretty good but healing slow. There was really no pre surgery prep that I did but just know exactly what to expect after and how long a healing process it was. I made sure to have some lose fitting pants, shorts, shirts, etc for a few weeks after the surgery so you are comfortable as well as investing in a donut. That helped a lot for me. It was about a week or so before I could use it. I also got a sitz bath from the hospital and a squirt bottle for when urinating so it would not burn. Usually at the hospital they will give you something to relax but you should not feel anything during the procedure. I also brought a pillow for the car ride home so I could lay down because you can't sit. If you have any questions, feel free to email me directly at schontis@... and I would be happy to talk about my experience. Guest guest
Hope I am not too late to offer my tips! I had a vestibulectomy. I recommend buying a couple of those squishy, flexible cold packs from a drug store. You will be icing A LOT and they are easier to use (I found) than ice. Also I recommend having a laxative on hand. Pain meds can be very constipating and you don't want to strain and break stitches. Stool softener was not enough for me. I would have both stool softener and x-lax on hand in case you need it. The peri-bottle and cushion are great tips. My doc had them for me, so maybe yours will, too. Good luck! Lia

Guest guest
Best of wishes on your Vulvar Vestibulectomy. You will be in my thoughts and prayers:) Please let us know how everything goes when you are well enough to write. And feel free to email me with any of those post operative questions you may have that your are not sure if its worth talking to the doctor about (or even if it is and you just want to talk;). I remember how relieved I was to know people from this group, especially those who had undergone the procedure, while I was recovering. Keep in touch!
