Guest guest
Are all neuros lying sods or is it just mine? I had my spinal MRI about 5 weeks ago and the neuro gave me the all-clear, saying there wasn't anything to worry about, but I should still go to see another neuro who loves mucking about with spines. Sounded a touch suspect to me - why go to see him if there is no problem? - but anyway I picked up the MRIs and report the other day to take to the other neuro. And this is the report. Cervical Spine: No intramedullary lesion is demonstrated and no compressive lesion. No enhancing nerve sheath tumours have been identified. Thoracic and Lumbar spine: Alignment is satisfactory. There is a degenerate T6/7 disc with disc protrusion indenting the thecal sac but not causing significant cord compression. L3/4 and L4/5 are degenerate. Far lateral L3/4 disc protrusion narrows the exit foramen with some compression of the L3 root. There is a prominent Tarlov cyst involving the S2erve root sheath - on the most inferior section taken some enhancement is seen within the Tarlov cyst - a nerve sheath tumour is suspected at this site of less than 1cm dimension and could be followed on subsequent imaging. I have spoken to Mandy, my chiropractor, about these scans and her verdict is that she has seen worse backs but in a 64 year old, not a 34 year old, which is not really comforting. The only info I can find on Tarlov cysts is not encouraging and there seems to be an awful lot of surgery involved. Does anyone else have a Tarlov cyst? I need to know if I should start to panic, and how much time I should devote to worrying about it over Christmas. Georgia
Guest guest
I'm like na, I've had a syrinx cyst in my c-spine area for years. Just watch it with the rest of my tumors. Not causing any damage. BTW I go in for cranial, cervical, thorasic, and lumbar, MRIs on Sunday, Dec. 30th. at 2 pm. It'll be at Barrow's Neurological Institute in Phoenix. They said it would take 4 hours. What a way to spend the Holidays. (Yes, these were suppose to be done in August.... so I'm slow.... I'm just confirming what my school teachers all said. lol) JD in, Bored Today, AZ
Guest guest
Georgia! Holy moly, are you just 34 years old? I too have a lot of weird stuff that my neursurgeon never mentioned, but I found when I started requesting copies of the reports and scans. I truly think they just don't want you to get all excited about something that they can't or won't touch. I've never heard of a Tarlov cyst. I wonder if thats like a syrinx which is a kind of cyst and what I have in my c-spine. More than likely your NS didn't explain it all to you because he didn't want you to panic and worry. The report you read, is this from the second NS that you went to? na -----Original Message-----From: C & G son Sent: Wednesday, December 19, 2001 6:12 AMTo: NF2_Crew Subject: spinal MRI Are all neuros lying sods or is it just mine? Guest guest
Jeff - They are doing your MRI's on a Sunday? I marked your date down on my prayer calendar. That is a long MRI! God bless, Jane Re: spinal MRI I'm like na, I've had a syrinx cyst in my c-spine area for years. Just watch it with the rest of my tumors. Not causing any damage. Guest guest
Jane, yes Sunday, since I don't drive anymore it's easier to go on a weekend and that way I can get my wife to take me. Yes, 4 MRIs at once. I'll just dope myself up and try and get it over with in one sitting instead of making 2 appointments. Barrow's is about 30 miles one way so between the driving and traffic etc it'll be an all day adventure. lol. And this way Debbie doesn't miss work. Oh the joys. Guest guest
JD, How did all those MRI's come out that you took on the 30th? What an exhausting experience I would expect. Tell us. Concerned. Vicki

Guest guest
I only got half way threw and made them stop because my back hurt so bad. I had even taken a pain pill before going in, but just couldn't do it that day. So the second half of my mri's, with contrast, was to be the 9th but my wife went to the hospital from fainting. So now I have the 24 of Jan set up with a Feb 1, 02 appointment with my neurologist. ENT, etc after that. JD Re: spinal MRI > JD, > How did all those MRI's come out that you took on the 30th?
