Guest guest Posted March 31, 2004 Report Share Posted March 31, 2004 Is anyone interested in joining a " step program " with me? I have a pedometer, but I don't use it as much as I should. Plus, it's kind of neat to see how far you've walked during normal activities (plus exercise too, which can really help those numbers!) We can post how many steps we've made that day and just motivate each other to start moving more. =) My WW meeting place had a board where they kept track of how much everyone had walked. They stopped it half-way through last year, but I thought it might be something fun to do on-line. Please let me know your thoughts on this. WW has pedometers for sale at their meeting places, plus you can find them at Wal-mart, Target, any sports store. I have two different pedometers and am not that happy with them. I've worn them both at the same time and get two different readings. One counts a step for every slight movement. I had mine on my hip and got a really low reading one day at Disney when I knew that I had walked at least 5+ miles and it was barely showing one mile. My Dad suggested that I put it near my ankle. I had got one from Sears and one from Wal-Mart and took them both back. Also that little one they advertise in the Kelloggs cereal box, well I got one free at the hospital and it was awful...it already had 10 steps or so added before I even got it snapped on. It was like all I had to do was just pick it up and it started counting..lol. The two I bought, one was $20.00 plus tax and the other $29.00 plus tax. So, there are choices. The one I ordered was 29.95, which is the same price I paid for the WW one that didn't work. But of course there's 5.00 shipping added to this one. Hope it works! I bought my pedometer from 's Warrehouse and I have the same problem with it that others have with theirs, a sneeze registers steps! If anyone locates a really good one, I'd appreciate knowing. The most accurate low-end pedometer was the digi-walker pedometer that is about $30. There's a website: http://www.digiwalker.com (or is it www.digi-walker.com?) I'll have to check out the article tonight. I can't remember the brand of the pedometer that I have, but I probably need to recalibrate it. The one thing that I noticed with mine is that it doesn't count the steps I do on the treadmill. Weird! I can walk all over outside and in the house, etc. and it counts the steps... but not the treadmill. I don't recall what brand my pedometer is... I did notice that Eddie Bauer stores carry pedometers. I bought one for for Valentine's Day (I know, how romantic) for about $10. They have a talking one for $15.
