Some of the best advice that helped me in the first few days was 1) to not be afraid to ask your doctor for something to calm your anxiety and/or something to help you sleep and 2) as I am an overly-analytical type, my sister gave me Dr. Love's book which helped me get educated and understand so much more. For me, knowledge is power and provides some comfort. My surgery is tomorrow, Monday, and I'll post after I get home. Trying to stay calm and collected today and focus on the surgery as HEALING! Guest guest
I will be praying for you tomorrow. I had my lumpectomy Dec. 20th and my oncologist wanted me to take six months of chemo. Before that happened I had an appt with him, took my friend along in case I forgot something he said, and wrote out my questions to ask him. He was very understanding and did convince me to have three months chemo, radiation, and chemo again. Instead i did four months of chemo and have just started radiation on Thursday. I now will go every day M-F for about seven weeks. My point being that if you have questions that haven't been answered the first time around, you can always go back and ask those questions at the next appt. Hugs & prayers, Janet A Stage I IDC - Sentinel node free of cancer
