Guest guest
I was wondering if there is a way to avoid this? Obviously I am in an ER situation- I am just wondering. Thanks! Jodi
Guest guest
Hi Jodi-- I'm sorry you had to go through this again, but you sound really good and with a great attitude. The IV bypasses your gut and so it doesn't feed the bad bugs and delivers nutrients to your cells. It actually is a good way to feed us IBD'ers, 'cause it gives the gut a rest. So not to worry about IV illegals. I know you were ambivalent about your upcoming surgery and I guess today had a silver lining because your body made up your mind for you. You DO work so hard to be well and if the surgery will help to that end, what a blessing. Thinking of you Jodi, and praying for your speedy recovery. Terry IV meds contain dextrose I was wondering if there is a way to avoid this?Obviously I am in an ER situation- I am just wondering. Thanks!Jodi

Dextrose in it's pure form is legal -- it's glucose, a monosaccharide. -- Cheers, DF in MA UC June '07 SCD Nov '
Guest guest
Yes Doug, you are correct. More accurately, it is the D- or dextro ( right-handed) stereoisomer of glucose. Guest guest
What’s the difference between dextrose and maltodrextrin? According to Wikipedia maltodrextrin is a polysaccharide produces from various kinds of starch, but “easily digestible.” I guess that’s a matter of degree! n, wondering why so many manufacturers feel the need to add maltodrextin to their acidophilus preparations From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of Doug Fuller Sent: Thursday, April 30, 2009 11:27 PM To: BTVC-SCD Subject: Re: IV meds contain dextrose > > The IV bypasses your gut and so it doesn't feed the bad bugs and delivers > nutrients to your cells. Guest guest
hi marian, i'm learning that malto can be a prebiotic for probitics. biokult for instance uses non gmo malto- still makes me wonder as the company won't reveal too much of their manufacturing oprocess due to intellectual property stuff. why they wouldn't use jerusalem artichoke or the like is beyond me. custom probiotics has a wide range of probitics without all the crap. jodi > > > > The IV bypasses your gut and so it doesn't feed the bad bugs and delivers > > nutrients to your cells.
