Possible trigger from thyroid. Meds presently on (and quantities): Synthroid .05 mg daily, Allegra 180 mg -twice a day. Other non-prescrition meds: tagament, zantac Creams & lotions that help: none tried Meds that did not work: atarax, doxipin (worked but could not tolerate the mental fog). Other related ailments: Hashimotos' thyroiditis Family history: Many first cousins on my father's side with tahlesemia and some kind of skin problem. Guest guest Posted November 19, 2001 Report Share Posted November 19, 2001 Present age/sex: 46/F Age urticaria started: 38- Exposed to pesticides Length of present urticaria: In my 5th month of remission (subject to change at any given time) Type of urticaria: CIU (each hiving episode is a different type of urticaria) Allergies and other triggers: Sulfa, aspirin,dust, dirt, mold, mildew, pesticide/insecticide, anything with a fragrant, latex, heat, cold and when hiving badly pretty much anything and everything tends to bother me. Medicine presently on: Serzone 50mg. 1tab. @ bedtime Other non-prescription meds, remedies: When hiving I avoid dairy, chocolate, anything spicy and fruits Creams that help: Elocon (rx) Medicines that didn't work: Medrol pak & injection, hydroxizine, prednisone, claritin, nizoral, benadryl, tagamet, zyrtec, doxepin, zantac, periactin, procardia, optimine, volmax, ephedrine sulfate, allegra. The prednisone and ephedrine sulfate were temporary relievers all others made the hiving twice as bad. Other related ailments: Rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis. The jury is still out on Hormonal and Lupus. Family history-allergy/skin, Mother: Deceased at age 65 of uremic poisioning. She was the longest living (29yrs) Hemodialysis patient at the time of her death. Father: 72 yrs. Diverticulitis, reflux, sinusitis and a triple bypass. Also Other non-prescription meds, remedies: # 60 sunscreen & Solumbra clothing Creams & Lotions that help: Nothing helps the itching. Just wait it out.
