TO ME DEAF IS MUCH EASIER TO HANDLE THAN THE MANY PROBLEMS CAUSED BY FACIAL PARALYSES. But it was asked of Helen Keller.. if she could have one of the two (Sight or hearing) back she picked Hearing. But it someone that is both sighted and hearing probably would choose hearing to go. why ? because Helen Keller choice hearing because that is were language comes... Guest guest Posted January 29, 2002 Report Share Posted January 29, 2002 I HAD AN UNCLE WHO BECAME BLIND LATE IN LIFE WELL GRADUAL BLINDNESS MOST OF HIS LIFE BUT THEN IN HIS EARLY 50'2 COMPLETELY BLIND HE WAS A COLLEGE GRADUATE ORDAINED MINSTER WENT BACK TO COLLEGE FOR A MASTERS IN PHYSCOLGY ( BAD SP) I ASKED HIM WHICH HE THOUGHT WAS THE WORST TO LOOSE AND WITHOUT HESITATION HE SAID HEARING. I know without the slightest doubt I would choose physical disability , in spite of the loss of independence, over hearing loss.
