Well, My Surgeon Called With the Pathologist Report

(Sigh)

My surgeon just called and said that she has a " mixed bag " with the

path. report. She got clean margins on the lumpectomy but further

staining on the sentinel nodes shows 1 node with micrometasis (IHC

staining). She wants to schedule me for a full node dissection as

soon as possible.

The path report also upgraded the tumor grade from 2 to 3 as it is

showing a much higher mitosis than the path report from the biopsy.

I don't know whether I feel like crying or throwing up.

Sorry to hear the news isn't as good as expected. Remember breast cancer is NOT

the death sentence it was once thought to be. There are a lot of ladies live

long productive lives. Even ladies with Stage IV. I will keep you in my

prayers.

hi I just got a call on my biop. too still on a stand still they now need to do

some die testing....can't deside on what the path. report they can't agree ,if

it is positive or negitive I have calcifications ,but told me eaither way I will

be having surgery to remove the areas they are looking at ...I am so stressed

out it is hard to even get up in the morning and keep up at work .....I can't

think of anything else....the crying and throwing up thing I can relate too.....

nne and everyone - Thank you for your wise words.

I am such a pessimist when it comes right down to it and I really am

trying to change that. I just didn't think a path report could come

back so different from the biopsy path report. Besides the grade 2

to 3, the surgeon also said there is evidence of vascular/lymph

invasion which I know is not good. I know this is completely

insane, but I feel like I am being punished.

Part of my emotion duress can be attributed to menstrual cramps and

bad case of PMS on top of everything.

I am trying to decide whether to keep the appointment the surgeon

set up for me TOMORROW, Friday, for the full node dissection. Geez,

I was just there on Monday and it takes me some time to digest.

JanetB,

I was Stage II, with one bad node and its been 16 yrs for me. If it were me I

would keep the appointment for tomorrow. Putting it off would only cause you to

worry about it longer.

I used to get PMS something terrible. Sure don't miss it. I was 44 when I had my

surgery and went into menopause from the chemo. Still don't get hot flashes etc.

I have been VERY lucky. Will keep you in my prayers.
