Does anyone else have a combination of an ovarian cyst and

fibroids? I would be very grateful for any information and

thoughts about this. I am happy to exchange emails on this if

anyone can advise or has a similar problem.

Yes, I have had several ovarian cysts that have disappeared with my menstrual

cycle in the past. However, I am now 2 yrs. postmenopausal and still have

one ovarian cyst growing. The fibroids are getting smaller though. I also

have cystic breasts as well. I think I'm just lumpy all around. Best, Bev.

I agree with Sheryl. I have heard that to. And I've had a few sono's and a

couple of times it looked like a cyst on my ovarie. The last one they

thought it might be what the doc said " a complicated cyst " Which he said

would have been not good.

I think it is fairly common to have ovarians cysts. I too was diagnosed

with both fibroids and an ovarian cyst, but my doctor said that it was a

simple cyst and she was not concerned with it. Evidently women get simple

cysts (filled with fluid) quite often.

Did your doctor tell you what type of cyst you had?

Hope this helps and feel free to ask more questions of this great and

informative group :-)

During my Myo, my doc found an ovarian cyst, she lanced it, but said

it looked " normal " and the labs said the same thing. She wasn't

concerned about it at all.

I have a large fibroid along with an ovarian cyst. I go for another

ultrasound later this afternoon, so I won't really know anything

more until my doc gets the results and calls me. Has your cyst

changed at all?

I've also had ovarian cysts. In fact, they were found during one of my

routine ultrasounds to check on my fibroids.

At that time, I had a cyst on each ovary the size of a baseball! The

following month, one cyst was gone & the other was the size of a grape. The

next month, the grape was gone & a small one was back on the other ovary!

Crazy, but they claim it's all hormonally driven and they come and go.

Hey Ladies,

Today I had my saline sono and they also did they internal sono too. I have

a submucous fibroid with the doc said is an inch. When you consider the

vagina is only 4 in. That's a quarter. I also have a cyst on my right

ovary. Have had cysts on ovaries before. But they went away. My doc

referred me to another doc to do a resection and a uterine ablation. Of

course my appt. isn't until Apr. 2nd. Have to call my doc tomorrow and tell

him which doc I picked so he can personally call him. Just hope the Lupron

shot holds out. With them messing with me today I started bleeding again.

My doc says it should stop. I pray for that. Thinking of a nap now.

Later,

W.

If it helps to know - I too just discovered I have an ovarian cyst.

Doctor says it looks ok but will certainly remove it when he performs

my myomectomy. I think they're pretty common and most women wouldn't

know they have them and they go away on their own. Those of us on

this board, however, have frequent ultrasounds so therefore find out

about them. Now we have that much more to worry about. Right?

hahahaha. There's always new stuff to worry about!

HEY!!!!!!

I too found out that I had a cyst on both ovaries. One disappeared between

ultrasounds, and the other

one, a complex cyst (for a simple person? ';-)! ) is the size of a baseball and

not going anywhere.

Will check on it when I next ask for a flowing sonogram or whatever you call

'em.

FEEDBACK NEEDED:

I got this brainstorm today to call a company in Oregon which has invented this

chitinous internal

bandage for internal hemorrhaging of soldiers in warfare....to ask them if they

would somehow

consider it of any use for us women who visit the ER with hemorrhaging fibroids.

What do you all think?

It is made of some neutral substance which is not a protein and so, does not

react in foreign body

response mode. It is strong as hell and already neurosurgeons have started

requesting it to use for

trials in their particular bloody types of surgery....where they disentangle

brain blood vessels for

instance.

Could it be of some therapeutic use to us short or long term? They have just

begun using it

internally to buy surgeons some time on the battlefield when there is massive

internal bleeding to

save someone's life. Sound familiar to some of us?

Feedback please. I would rather go to the inventor's/horses mouth...mixed

metaphor...haha...than wait

for the docs to think about it. Right now they are in the searching for

application phase I think.

Aztek,

Sorry for my late answer, I have been away from the list for about a

week. I had surgery on 1/31 for both fibroids and cysts. My cysts

were on the ovaries and were caused by endometriosis. All in all it

was a pretty complex surgery. I am very happy with the results of my

surgery. Please e-mail me at jsuleski@... with any questions -

am happy to answer any questions or concerns.

All the best,

Janet
