Guest guest
Hi Sandi, Huzzah!!! I know how great that feels. It has only a little while since I broke through that mark myself. At only a little over 4 months post-op, you are doing fantastic! Just stay on track (and forgive yourself for any little slip-ups) and you'll continue to do great. My surgeon never gave me a goal, either. I asked him about that yesterday when I went in for a check-up. He said that " normal " for my height would be around 130 (I'm only 5'1 " ), but that he would be amazed if I got below 150 - which would be a total loss of 225 pounds. Well . .. . I've reached a point where I'm reasonably comfortable with just letting my body decide where it wants to end up (as long as I stay on track with healthy eating and exercise) - but I sure would like to amaze the doctor. Anything less than 150 would mean that I was lighter than I've been since I was a kid. BTW - since 130 is normal for you, are we about the same height? Take care, Kay in San Leandro open RNY 12/1/03 Sandi H. wrote: > > This morning, my scale showed me at 197.5 pounds! > > It's been a struggle for me the past month. 5 weeks ago (I only > weigh myself on Saturday mornings) I was down to 204, and thought > I'd get down to 200 the next week, for sure; but then, I had a few > very stressful weeks, I let myself snack between meals, missed > exercising or didn't exercise intensely enough, and I let my weight > go up and down for a few weeks. Guest guest
Sandi – a big congratulations to you, I am so excited for you!!! We seem to have reached this fabulous milestone together…On Friday, for the first time in over 10 years, I also weighed less than 200 (196.8 to be exact!) It’s so exciting and amazing and fun to be enjoying this journey with others who can totally relate. Thanks for sharing!! - Lesa - I finally did it! I'm now below 200 pounds! This morning, my scale showed me at 197.5 pounds! It's been a struggle for me the past month. 5 weeks ago (I only weigh myself on Saturday mornings) I was down to 204, and thought I'd get down to 200 the next week, for sure; but then, I had a few very stressful weeks, I let myself snack between meals, missed exercising or didn't exercise intensely enough, and I let my weight go up and down for a few weeks. I know that when I don't do all my exercising and/or I let myself eat between meals, I don't do as well. Now, I'm back on track (I hope) and I just need to keep my focus during the next few months when they bring all the goodies to the office for Halloween, Thanksgiving & Xmas. I'm starting by surrounding work area with goodies that are either non-edible or the kind I really don't like. (My goodie bowl will have Halloween trinkets & pencils--no candy.) Also, I just got moved to an area in the office where I do NOT have to walk past the " snack table " every day. Here's hoping I can stay on track and keep loosing. I'd love to show the PB doctors a great weight loss when I see them on November 8th. I now have less than 70 pounds to my personal goal. Actually Dr. never set a goal weight for me. Maybe he (or the other PB doctors) will set a goal when I get closer to a " normal " weight. --Sandi H. (Citrus Heights) Surgery by Dr. Leo - 6/03/04 (Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego) weighed 315 at orientation (May '03) -- BMI 60 252 at surgery --BMI 46.1 last weighed at 197.5 (10/16/04) --BMI 37.3 Hopefully someday I'll weigh below 130 and be in a " normal " BMI range. sandiantoytrain @ yahoo . com
Guest guest
Yes, I am only 4 months from surgery, but I've been working on loosing this weight (this time) for 13 months before surgery, a loss pre-op of about 63 pounds and 54 pounds since surgery., Yeah, I guess I HAVE done pretty well, 54 pounds in 4 months! WOW! I just figured that out. I've lost 9 pounds less 4 months than I did in the 13 months before surgery! WOW! WOW! WOW!!!!!!!! That is so encouraging. That should help me keep on track this week. We have a snack day this week, but at least I don't HAVE to walk past the snack table anymore since they moved me to a different location in the office. Besides, I'm going to bring something high protein/low carb/lowfat, that I'll set aside a portion for my lunch, plus I have my supply of cucumbers, too. BTW--Yes, I am 5 ft 1 inch tall too! My PCP said that when I lost down to 180 or below I'll probably be " cured " of diabetes. But, I'm planning on getting below 140, although 130 is normal for our height. --Sandi H. (Citrus Heights) Surgery by Dr. Leo - 6/03/04 (Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego) weighed 315 at orientation (May '03) -- BMI 60 252 at surgery --BMI 46.1 last weighed at 197.5 (10/16/04) --BMI 37.3 Hopefully someday I'll weigh below 130 and be in a " normal " BMI range. sandiantoytrain @ yahoo . com > > > > > This morning, my scale showed me at 197.5 pounds! > > > > It's been a struggle for me the past month. 5 weeks ago (I only > > weigh myself on Saturday mornings) I was down to 204, and thought > > I'd get down to 200 the next week, for sure; but then, I had a few > > very stressful weeks, I let myself snack between meals, missed > > exercising or didn't exercise intensely enough, and I let my weight > > go up and down for a few weeks. Guest guest
Well, it's what a difference the " tool " of this surgery makes! --Sandi > > > > > > > > This morning, my scale showed me at 197.5 pounds! > > > > > > It's been a struggle for me the past month. 5 weeks ago (I only > > > weigh myself on Saturday mornings) I was down to 204, and thought > > > I'd get down to 200 the next week, for sure; but then, I had a > few > > > very stressful weeks, I let myself snack between meals, missed > > > exercising or didn't exercise intensely enough, and I let my > weight > > > go up and down for a few weeks.
