I think I read that in my orientation manual. Hope you get the green light afterall. I know that Pacific Bariatrics asks for you to wait a year or two after surgery before you get pregnant due to getting enough nourishment for you and your baby. I know that when I was having my surgery that there was a younger lady there that was having the surgery because she wanted to have children in the future and was told that this surgery (weight loss) could be her solution to infertility. In all my reading on these bulletin boards, I have NEVER read about a bad pregnancy. The only time I heard there was an unsuccessful pregnancy was one of the (former) moderators of a face to face support group I attend. She did loose her newborn baby due to malnutrition of the baby. But, that is only one case out of many. It's like all the times I was told while I was getting ready for this WLS surgery; they told me that you could DIE from the WLS surgery! That is only a small percentage of the cases. WLS is not that high risk, and neither is post-op pregnancy. The trick is, to have proper medical supervision & monitoring. Now, on the other hand I cannot have any more babies . . . But that's because I had a full hysterectomy! (I really don't mind, I have my family, and at the age of 50, I'm thankful that I don't have to deal with the " monthly " (periods!) :-) So, after your (new) doctor says you are safe, happy baby making! --Sandi H.
