Folks,

My 8 year old has been up all night with pain and nausea. He used to be on

phenergran (sp?), but the doctor took him off of it about a week ago. Is

there anything else that I might have in the house that can be given for the

vomiting? He is asleep right now (6:20 AM) for the first time all night.

When he wakes up, I am afraid we will start all over again.

Thanks for anything you might be able to suggest,

Donna,

Try to control the nausea first, a slice of raw ginger held between the cheek

and the teeth can help a lot. Also there is a pressure point about a finger

width on the left arm, from the bone on the outside of the left wrist. Medium

pressure at that point, either from you or the patient can help nausea. Don't

forget to try to keep the hydration up by very small sips of water or a

rehydration solution of one pint of water with sugar scooped with your

thumbnail and salt scooped with the fingernail of your little finger.

Good Luck

hi donna - phenergan is what i take also. sometimes even that does not work

for me. why he take him off of it?? i've heard other people mention tea

made with ginger and i think there are a couple of other things too. i'm sure

you'll get some more answers and i'll see what i can find in the meantime. i

am so sorry that he is having to go through this. (and you too) i hope you

can get some rest also. your friend in arkansas, debbie

Hi Donna,

It's me again. While I was talking about food we could tolerate, I forgot to

mention how sorry I am that your son (and you) had such a rough night last

night. Children should not have to endure this terrible disease and as a

mother of three and grandmother of two, my heart goes out to you. There is

nothing worse than having to watch a child suffer and feeling helpless. I

believe Phenergan is the best medication available for nausea/vomiting

especially for children and I would definitely call his doctor and have him

call in another prescription. God bless you, Donna and I will keep you both

in my prayers....I hope you both get some rest today. Give Cameron a big hug

for me and tell him I hope he is feeling better soon!

Hugs & Prayers

Carole

Oh Donna,

I'm so sorry to hear this! Why in the world did the doctor take him

off of the phenergan? AAGGHH!! They drive me nuts! My mom swears by

warm 7-up for nausea, but it really never helped me. Sorry. Good

luck, and you both will be in my thoughts & prayers. Please, let me

know how he is later.

Lots of Love,

thers a band that goes around the wrist, this is suppose to put presure on

the presure point and helps to control nausea, You can get them at the drug

store or even wall mart. I used one on both wrist and they help.
