Guest guest
Excellent info, - I would second your opinion. I would go even further and say we gals with this disorder should be thyroid and sex hormone tested. If sex hormones are low at a young age - endocrine (thyroid disorders) can be suspected. Were your yeast infections (gotten after treatment with the vinegar) confirmed by culture - or did you just " feel " yeasty? Dusty Strep and Vaginitis I just wanted to add my thoughts on the Strep. About 7 years ago when I was at the worst with my vvs I was diagnosed with chronic Beta Strep and Vaginits by a bacterial vaginosis specialist. His prodocol was to have me treat the beta strep and do vinager douches, which I would do, and then I would swing to a yeast infection which I would treat with antifungals. He also had me inserting vaginal lactobacillus which is the only thing about his prodocol that actually brought me any relief (relief, but not resolution of symptoms). I did this for about 2 years and got progressively worse. Finally after this doctor left the clinic and the state, I found a vvs specialist. She had a different aproach to Beta strep (as well as other types of strep too). She told me that overgrowth of vaginal strep was a result of abnormal ph. She told me that the abnormal ph was a result of localized low levals of estrogen in the skin. She told me to stop the antibiotic/antifunal rollercoaster and start using Estrace cream. I was initially VERY reluctant as I had been convinced that treating the infections was the answer. But I did as she said and with a little help of Temovate later on I saw a dramatic improvement in my symptoms. The feelings of infection cleared up within a month, soreness with clothing within 3, unfortunatly the damage done to my skin by antifungals and antibiotics had already been done and I did not get well enough to continue intimacy without surgery. But now I lead a mostly normal sex life. I guess the point I was making is that if your doctor suggests antibiotics to treat, you may want to see if the vaginal ph and or estrogen is the problem.
