Guest guest
Dear , During 1997, 98, 99 I had lots od dental work done. 1998 I had surgery on my leg for cancer. In 2000 in March, here came the hives. Allergic reaction to macrobid for a UTI. Dr. took me off ALL the herbs and Vit. I was taking. This caused 2 teeth to break off and a root cannelon one and a cap on the other. I don't really know if something in the dental work or the surgery for cancer caused my body to get in the direct path for hives or not. I was always pretty healthy before all that. 2000 was a bad year. I have learned to live with the hives. This list has been a life saver for me. Guest guest
But you have never had any surgery of any sort, either of the mouth or otherwise? Guest guest
Hello Welcome to you and your wife. How long has she been suffering with this misery? What medications is she on? You are so right when you say that doctors are reluctant to search for a cause. You are right to arm yourselves with as much information as you can, and make lists of questions for the doctors. I have had CU for nearly ten years and have never had surgery or any root canals. Mine seemed to arrive during a period of extreme stress, which I feel must have been the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak, but who knows? There seems to sometimes be a link to thyroid, so that's another avenue to be investigated. Has your wife had blood tests to rule things out? While we are searching for our cause, all we can do is make ourselves as comfortable as possible with the various medications and creams, etc. I hope your wife is getting a little comfort from the knowledge that she is not alone and we KNOW how she feels. Best wishes, Carol My Wife I am so glad all of you exist as a valuable resource. It appears that the most maddening thing about this condition is the fact that the enemy remains so unknown and intangible. My gorgeous young wife is getting them head-to-toe and it makes her, just like the rest of you I am sure, irritable, miserable, and unhappy. We live in Los Angeles and have great medical care at our disposal, but it appears to me that physicians are reticent to look for much of a causal connection to underlying conditions such as yeast, surgeries, etc. That is why your e-mails and information are so important, even imperative. Although only antidotal and not scientific evidence, every story you provide to theoretical or plausible causes is instrumental in us finding any connection to an underlying cause and in identifying a suitable combination of foods and drugs. My question: My wife just had a benign tumor surgically removed from her ovary. I see a very strong root canal/wisdom teeth/mouth surgery connection. How many of you have had surgery of any sort? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~If you do wish to unsubscribe then you can click on the following link: urticaria-unsubscribe ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This list is in the service of those who suffer from Chronic Urticaria (hives). Guest guest
Hi , About 2 years ago, I had tumors removed from both of my ovaries, my doctor said they were " cystadenomas " and that they were " precancerous " , so she ended up taking my right ovary and most of the left, she tried to reconstruct the remaining part of the left ovary for hormonal purposes. My hives started 1 year ago--had the tumors removed 2 years ago, I really don't know if it has anything to do with it. Good luck ! You will find many, many informative, wonderful people on this list. Guest guest
Hi welcome to the group. How sweet for you to join on your wifes behalf. It is most maddening to not know the cause. And there are absolutely NO words for the callusness of doctors in their attempt to try and find a cause!! I battled hard for two and half years to find the cause of my little girls CU. I eventually did, unfortuneately they can't ever cure her of her hives but at least I found some relief in a diagnosis. (In her case a rare blood disorder called Mastocytosis) If you think there is a dental connection with your wife I STRONGLY encourage you to ask her to have a digital xray done. What other symptoms does she have? Is she a shocker? What meds is she on? What form of urticaria does she have? The more details you add the more ideas we will have. Does she carry an epipen? Hang in there, she is lucky to have you. Love, ~Alena's Mom My Wife I am so glad all of you exist as a valuable resource.
