Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm new to this board but thought that maybe some of you could relate to my experience or offering some thoughts/advice. I've been suffering since November with a painful tear at the base of my vagina. Also, sometimes my external skin gets so irritated that fissures appear and bleed a little bit. During those bouts it hurts to sit, stand, wear pants or even attempt to have sex. Las year I had told my doctor about similar irritation and she dismissed it as me not using enough lubricant. She did change my pill from Ortho Lo to Estrostep though. In January, I had enough and quit Estrostep. It caused vaginal dryness, low libido and acne. Still, the tear did not heal and in March I went to see a new doctor (one that wouldn't just dismiss my problem). She gave me Estrace Cream and Vagifim along with the advice to abstain from intercourse for one month. Needless to say, I did that and when my month was up, my tear looked healed. But sure enough, as soon as I had sex it tore again. I returned for a follow- up appointment and she said use the Estrace and Vagifem for two months while abstaining this time. Again, I followed this advice and the same thing happened at the end of the two month period. Then one morning I woke up with terrible throbbing and swelling. I felt like I couldn't walk. I went to work but called my doctor and asked if I could come in. Her partner saw me instead and he said it was nothing to worry about. He cultured the " lesion " again and told me to stop the Estrace and Vagifem and use Desitin cream. I tried Desitin for two months before I gave up. Putting it on was agony and it was hard to wash off. I've given up with all three of the past doctors and went to see Dr. Peacocke this morning. She doesn't take insurance but I hear she's the best. Has anyone else tried her? I saw an earlier post where a few people seemed to have mixed feelings on her treatment methods. My visit to her was encouraging. She thinks that we can solve my problem without any more doctor's ignoring me or giving me wrong prescriptions (oh! I forgot to mention that the second dr also put me on Valtrex for 2 weeks saying I had herpes, which it turns out with two more negative cultures later, I do not have). Dr. Peacocke seems to think I have a vitamin D deficiency that may be the cause of all my discomfort, including the area that keeps tearing during intercourse. Does anyone else have that problem? She said it may be because I have Celiac Disease which I am getting tested for tomorrow morning. I guess I wouldn't be all that shocked considering both my sister and father have different immune disorders (not celiac but I do probably have a propensity for autoimmune disorders such as Celiac). I'm sorry this post is so long! I just feel frustrated and lonely. My boyfriend has been patient through all of this but honestly we have lost a lot of the intimacy that we used to have. I don't feel normal. I'm only 24 and I can't even wear jeans most days. Anyways, I thought maybe some of you could relate or tell me if you have had good experiences with Dr. Peacocke. Thanks in advance.
