Guest guest
I just discovered this on accident but pecan butter works magic for me. I just make it in the food processor and I fold in honey at the end (it pulls it all together and makes it roll around into a big ball of dough). I add a tbsp of peanut oil at the beginning to get it started. I've been eating a few table spoons a day as a quick snack but I've discovered that it makes me very regular. I believe that pecan's are easier on your system in the beginning than any other nut butter. I do very well with it - I don't do well with peanuts or cashews yet. You do need to go easy on the honey at the beginning of the diet though.HarveyCrohns 13 yearsSCD 1 yearHealthy, happy, no meds.Gaining weight and symptom free as long as I don't stray from the dietHi there,I have Celiac disease (GF 4 months now), my main physical symptom IS chronic constipation. I am only 3 days on the SCD and still on the intro. I have a couple questions: 1. Elaine references in this page http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.org/faq/constipation.htmlHer constipation protocol-- she asks you to introduce "the muffins" but doesnt clarify WHICH muffins??? it is driving me crazy-- does anyone know??2. Anyone with chronic constipation (before the diet) that could maybe offer advice for how to proceed, know when to introduce new foods etc? anything to help at all would be great.3. If i use my medication i was taking for the constipation (which has illegal ingredients) will it negate the whole purpose of the diet? Any suggestions besides Magneeseum for a powerful (trus me i need it) laxative that might help in the mean time?THANKS!!!
Guest guest
I have serious constipation issues (fissures, etc.), so I take Miralax every evening. I do not know if it is legal or not, but I do not react from it. Hopefully when I am on the diet longer I will be able to get off it. Guest guest
> > 1. Elaine references in this page > http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.org/faq/constipation.html > Her constipation protocol- Hi; On the page you referenced, Elaine recommends making a concentrate of PRUNE NECTAR (legal, without sugar) through gentle heating & reducing. Elaine says to mix a small amount of prune concentrate with regular (legal) OJ, and drink that first thing in the morning. She also suggests drinking something HOT (coffe/tea?) with breakfast. I save myself a lot of steps with the following protocol... HEATING STRAIGHT-UP PRUNE JUICE (or nectar), AND DOWNING ONE CUP EVERY MORNING. Remarkably, I have found that I actually LIKE the taste of HOT prune juice, and therefore no need to mix it with OJ. Heating dramatically improves the flavor ... I usually warm in the microwave. And this method really works for me!! I learned this tip from a nutritionist who has worked in a Seniors' Home .. where one encounters C problems on a regular basis. Hope this tip helps to get the plumbing working for you, and others like you! Vivien Undiagnosed IBS SCD 13 mos.
