Guest guest
: I took Phosphosoda Saline. It was a two-day prep--with a diet instruction. It didn't taste great; but, it didn't debilitate me. I only drank clear liquids the day prior to surgery. Sheila

Guest guest
My experience was different. I wasn't required to use GoLytely or any other " bowel prep " prior to my myo surgery last fall. I ate normally the day before surgery. I was initially instructed not to eat or drink anything (including water) after midnight before my surgery, which was scheduled for 2:30 PM. Because of the late hour of my surgery, my doctor told me that if I desired, I could have some toast and tea that morning as long as I finished by 6:30 AM. Both she and the pre-op nurse (whom I saw a couple days earlier for blood test, paperwork, etc.) advised me that I just couldn't eat or drink anything for 8 hours prior to surgery. This 8 hours timeframe seemed to be a key factor, as my anesthesiologist also asked me how long it had been since I ate/drank when I told him I had tea and toast that morning. Guest guest
I was not asked to do any bowel prep either. On my own, I decided to eliminate meat and dairy products for two days before the surgery, just to help alleviate any possible gas or constipation problems. Didn't have any problems. Abdominal Myomectomy and GoLytely For those of you who have had abdominal myomectomy - were you required to take medication called GoLytely before the procedure? Guest guest
, I had the GoLytely bowel prep. Make sure you have Gatorade and chicken broth on hand to replenish important vitamins and minerals as they are being washed out. I didn't - big mistake. It's not standard for every myo - there are several forms of bowel prep - I'm sure you can ask for something else. Some surgeons don't even require a bowel prep before a myo. Mine did because I also had endometrial implants removed, and some were on my bowel. I found the GoLytely prep to be the single most unhappy part of my entire surgical experience - and I'm not exaggerating. Guest guest
I had to, and it indeed was awful. It didn't hurt, it was just a terrible experience. Read my earlier post on my san francisco myo surgery recap. Liz > Hi all. I have yet another question.
