This is what an article in MedLine says: Recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis affects five percent of women of child-bearing age. The most common organism is Candidia albicans, but an increasing number of infections are caused by nonalbicans species. Fungal culture directs treatment as nonalbicans species may be azole resistant. C. albicans will respond to any azole antifungal. Treat C. glabrata with boric acid. Maintenance therapy should be started immediately after treatment of the acute episode and should last for six months. Convictions

Hi,

I wanted to tell you that if Diflucan isnt

clearing your yeast infection up maybe its not

Candidia. Maybe it's Glabrata yeast. There are

differnt strains of yeast. For instance Glabrata is

resistant to Diflucan. You have to take Boric Acid.

I'd find out what strain it is.

Good question and I've no idea, but I too have a Q. For those who take Diflucan (I never have) how long is it before you do see some results? A day, 2 or 3 or more? I dont mean someone with chronic yeast but just a typical normal one that usually goes away fairly fast and isn't chronic.

In my experience, Diflucan usually starts working the day after I take it, for instance the burning and itching sensations decrease. However, it has typically taken about 4-5 days for my symptoms to totally disappear. Thanks Angie for your reply. I always wondered about that. I only use the one time antiyeast creams inserted like Vagistat... I burn like the dickens for a day with it (but was anyway) but by the 2nd day it's usually 50% better and by the 3rd it's gone for me. So I just wondered taking something systemically like the Diflucan how long it would take to work thru the system.

Also just a note too to remind everyone is to think twice about using Erythromycin along with the Diflucan.... it can cause major heart problems, in fact they call it an erythromycin heart attack.. just a bad mix those systemic antiyeast meds and that antibiotic (I'd be leery of any antibiotic while on it myself)
