Guest guest
, I don't think that you will find any negative feelings here about Dr. R or the MGB either! We are all so happy to have this wonderful opportunity for weight loss and better health. And, we all made our decision after checking into things and concluding that he was the surgeon for us. So, we are a pretty positive group!!! I will tell you, honestly though, that when I was checking into various weight loss surgeries and surgeons, I got a wide range of reactions when I talked about the MGB in the bariatric surgery community. Mostly because it is newer, different, laparoscopic, and because people don't like change. I found that the best thing to do is seek out those who really know from personal experience what Dr. Rutledge is like, how the procedure goes, how it works, etc...- like us postops - especially those who had surgery some time ago. I think firsthand accounts tell the true story, as does talking with Dr. Rutledge himself. As for myself, I am 'pleased as punch'! I was one of those who researched long and hard before deciding to have WLS of any kind and then deciding on the MGB with Dr. Rutledge. I even went so far as to call the ASBS (Amer. Society of Bariatric Surgeons) for further help and information in making my decision. I was satisfied with their responses to my questions about the MGB. And meeting Dr. Rutledge gave me further confidence in his abilities. He is an expert! And has a proven track record of success with his patients. That is so important! Is there anything I wish I had known before surgery? Hmmm...not really but then again at my first clinic visit, I asked Dr. Rutledge 40 questions literally and he answered each one. Any other ?'s I had beforehand were answered by the fabulous folks on this list.... As for the coffee, I hear that the oils in it can contribute to ulcer formation so it is NOT a good idea for postops. And then there's the caffeine - not so good for us either... Let me know if I can answer any questions you might have. I am only one month postop but I would be happy to 'say my piece'. All the best to you, Amber 11/5/99 (-28 lbs) Starting BMI: 47 Current BMI: 42 YAHOO!!! Are there any anti feelings out there? Is there anything you wish you would have known before surgery? Guest guest
Hi, I'm really new to an on line community and to the idea of the MGB. I went to the Saturday clinic and was really impressed with both the Dr. and the group. Are there any anti feelings out there? Is there anything you wish you would have known before surgery? Is coffee really out forever? I had a WW leader once who said that " nothing tastes as good as thin feels " . I'm sort of betting that that's true. Thanks for any input. A. Guest guest
Welcome! I bet you won't find any " anti " feelings in this group! We all pretty much think Dr. R. is the best. There isn't anything that I wish I would have known before the surgery, thanks to the education Dr. R. insists on prior to having the MGB. Yes, coffee is out forever. I am still mourning the loss of my a.m. ritual 101/2 wks post op, but that's a small price to pay for no more hypertension, backache, knee pain, etc... You're right, nothing feels as good as feeling good about the future for the first time in a long time!
