Hi Carol,

Just one question. What chemo did you do? Did you have Taxol (or even

Taxotere)?

I had, and my neuro said that side effects from Taxol can show up even after

the chemotherapy has ended.

Just a thought.

Hi all!

I have completed 22 rad treatments with 13 more to go. I was

wondering has anyone else in this group had terrible fatigue from the

radiation treatments? I seem to be able to fall asleep at any time and

anyhere, even more so than from the chemo.

Another thing, it has been almost 2 months since my last chemo, and

about 2 weeks ago I not only developed this sleepiness, but I felt

like I had the flu in all my joints and muscles. It is some better

today, but there is still some soreness in my shoulder and hip joints.

I also experience my hands going numb on me at night so much that it

wakes me up. I went to my family doctor last week, and she gave me a

perscription for Neuronton, which seems to help the numbness, at least

until it wears off about 5 am. I also had blood work for thyroid

function done and it came back normal. I just don't know what is

happening to me! I am not on any meds (like some of you ladies here)

that can cause muscle and joint aches as I was ER negative. I think I

am going crazy!

Hello,

Well I had 30 radiation treatments and I really didn't have any real bad

tiredness. Although I didn't have chemo.

The sunburn and soreness in left breast but that is all. If you had chemo it

might be you are still tired from it.

Carol,

You're not crazy! Neuropathy from the chemo treatments can continue for up

to a year after treatment. The tiredness is completely normal during radiation

treatment as well. Your body is trying to tell you it needs to rest in order

to heal...go with it! And speak to your radiation oncologist about the

tiredness, and the regular oncologist about the neuropathy.

I am still waiting for my date to start my radiotherapy treatment and was

wondering as I keep hearing about sunburn type of burns and I normally have

problems in the sun and burn at the slightest hint of sun would it be

worthwhile me using a high factor sunblock and would that stop any burns or

would it effect the therapy.

If anybody else has had a similiar problem or found a solution for very fair

skinned people can the please share the secret.

Carol,

My neropathy due to Taxol was very severe in the low 2% of ocurrences, the onc

said.

So, I am taking all the meds, vitamins, etc I can and I am seeing a

neurosurgeon too.He has been a ton of help. Talk to your onc about working

together with a neuro.

I know, it is a pain to see more doctors, but sometimes we just have to do

what our bodies ask, just like said.

I will go back to my workout this Monday, but I will definitely take it very

easy.

thanks for responding, . I did not have those chemo

drugs.....I had FEC, which is 5FU, epirubicin and cytoxin. But I

guess those could cumulate in the body and leave one very fatigued.

I haven't found anyone else in this group who had this same set of

chemo drugs. I thought that was pretty strange!
