Guest guest
Hi -- I have been to lots of docs, both " alternative " and conventional. The natural ones have been MUCH more helpful and open in terms of investigating, ordering various tests, etc. There are some " MD " s who practice natural medicine, so they can order the same kinds of tests that conventional docs can (and more) but respond differently to the results. Nearly all conventional docs I've been to have been close to useless...although I do have one, my psychiatrist, who is exceptionally helpful and understanding. He is the one who diagnosed me with hypothyroid. Unfortunately he doesn't treat V issues. My feeling is not that natural docs are better or smarter somehow, but just that they tend to be more open minded and willing to question things and explore new territory. This is not to say that a conventional doc couldn't be the same way, but just philosophically those folks tend to operate outside the mainstream. I will say that in the end most of the relief I've gotten (and for a while I did have complete relief from pain) was a result of my own research and investigating...talking to people. If I had relied totally on doctors of any kind, I would still be at square 1. So I'd say prepare to take on much of the load yourself, and find someone, natural or conventional, who's willing to listen to you and work with you. Just my 2 cents. #2 > > For those of you who have found even some relief in treatments, did you > find it with a traditional family doctor/gynecologist/specialist, or > was it through a natural approach? > > Is there a way to make a poll of this? > > It just seems like I am getting nowhere in the medical system. Guest guest
I have been traditional so far but it took a lot of frogs before I met the 'prince'. I'm guessing though that that time of jumping from doc to doc was a learning time for me - learning how to present my condition, present my wishes and then overcoming (and still not 100%) the huge hurdle of asking for what I wanted. Some of those early docs I left in tears because they didn't do this or that - and in looking back, its' easy to see that most of the time, I wasn't educated enough about my body to ask th right questions or make the right 'demands' that would lead to the result I wanted. I'll never know now how many of the earlier ones really could have helped if I had been on my toes. Naturopathic Doc For those of you who have found even some relief in treatments, did you find it with a traditional family doctor/gynecologist/specialist, or was it through a natural approach? Is there a way to make a poll of this?It just seems like I am getting nowhere in the medical system. I am curious to know how others have fared.

Guest guest
Good luck with that new doctor of yours who practices both forms of medicine... I myself like a good internist and feel they know a lot more than most. Although I lucked out recently with a good GP who's also an osteopath.... and I just went thru the most thorough physical in my whole life with tests out the wazoo haha !! Took 2 full months to go thru everything (trying to coordinate other physicians with timing etc. It was amazing how he coordinated it all. But being a bran new patient in a way he had to start from scratch so to speak and what a job he's done! Plus I can talk to him, *grin*. AND he's just so doggone cute, LOL These docs are getting younger and younger I swear, haha So far I'm 99% healthy for an old(er) fart, *smile*.. and I myself am sort of in shock with me smoking. DUH... just a bit of high BP (which would prob. be fine if I quit *sigh*) but I'm working on that to not take BP meds and ironically am going to try (ask for) 'just' the diuretics (if he agrees) I see him again next week to discuss all the test results which came out fine. One (an ultrasound) we thought was badly clogged carotids (neck arteries) but on further testing with a detailed MRI, nope they're fine, in fact very little if any plaque buildup. *whew* Hugs and good luck hon Dee~ ..
