I've been with AOL for over 7 years now, so it's just laziness (and having to notify everyone of a different email address) keeping me from changing...especially now that the spam filtering seems to be non-existent on AOL now. Guest guest
I get more porn spam each day than listgroup mail!!!!! (on AOL) I just want to encourage all AOL users on this list to report 'spam' and 'porno.' On the bottom of your MAILBOX screen which lists all your posts is a 'Notify AOL' button. Highlight the (unsolicited) email and click on the Notify AOL button and send. There is an option to include a message if you choose. Please report any 'spam or porno' to them...even if it doesn't seem like they do anything.I know, too, how annoying it is to get this unsolicited email...and if we don't report it...they'll think they have no problem...I have been assured they do find quite a few of these people. Also, if I can see the mail has come from another domain name, I forward the entire email to webmaster at that site. For example if an unsolicited email came from janedoe@..., I would forward the entire email to webmaster@.... This doesn't always work because hackers have gotten smarter...they set up temporary emails for Spam and then high-tail it out of town. In addition, if you are having trouble on AOL, including getting disconnected...go to Keyword: 'system response' and make a report there too. Hoping together we can make a difference...even if it doesn't seem like it. Thanks, (another AOL user and Grandma of two Mito kids)

I just checked and I don't have one now either. Which version of aol are you using? Thanks, Dena Hi Dena, I'm using 7.0. If you have an older version, open the email and forward it to: Tosemail1, Tosspam, and Postmaster. That will work the same. You can also block email, too, but I don't recommend it as it's difficult since the 'spammers' change screen names moment to moment...that is, unless you can live with blocking an entire domain name. If I can help further, let me know! (Grandma to 2 Mito kids)

I'm just frustrated with AOL that they don't ever notify their users about spam f/u, like many of the other providers do. But, thanks for the offer of help! Dena...I don't blame you...I'm frustrated,too...especially since we pay top dollar for unlimited service. It's probably because AOL's customer base is so large that they don't respond. I notify other domains of the problem and generally receive an auto-response. I have managed to track down 2 spammers in other domains...small ones but they ended up cancelling the spammer's service. That's why I say...hang in there and don't give up. If I can help in any way...let me know! (Grandma to 2 Mito kids)
Guest guest
, The Spammers/hackers actually got me once and then used my name to send out porn! Yikes! Thankfully a few people emailed me and then somebody sent it back to me. Now I can tell, I think, that I just told a person and yes they were getting complaints. so we went to aol for help and had to change our passwords as the scammers were taking over our computers! Most people just delete it rather than report it. So I think that is how th ey do it. And I also have seen ads that look so like real AOL and tell you your billing info is wrong.. That is one nice thing. that AOL says they will never ask for your password. And they told me thanks for telling us ..but true they don't let us know this is a persistant problem. Kathy F Hi Kathy, I, too, recently received an email stating it was from AOL and that there had been an error in billing and I needed to press a 'link' in the body of the email which would take me to the update page where I could re-input my credit card info. It almost had me going...except I thought before I give any information, I am going to check this out. I contacted AOL and, sure enough, it was not generated by them. They ask me to send it to them, which I did. Whew, almost! I just think it's important that all of we AOLers continue to complain about all 'junkmail.' Thanks for your response, Kathy.
