That Jello was just delicious tonite - not. To me, I think the food issue is the hardest thing (well, maybe not - the bathroom issue is a big problem for me b/c I'm in my car a lot for work). But, in the past, my attacks were always months apart. In between, I could pretty much eat normally - I generally always avoided fried foods, or anything really fatty & greasy, but pretty much whatever I wanted. Now, I second guess everything I put in my mouth. I know some of y'all are on liquid diets and this is stupid whining, but I see my life changing, but the docs I go to don't see it. I'm starting to second-guess my own sanity. ~Shanon

During that time, jello and yogurt was my food source most of the time. I take Pepcid (40 mg twice daily) instead of Prilosec although I have been on Prilosec before. I find Pepcid to have fewer side effects. The only medication I'm on at the moment is Pepcid, Creon, Phazyme (for the gas buildup) and Mylanta. I take Darvocet when I have the attacks. I hope you will try the Creon to see if it helps you as much as it helps me. Do you know what your amylase is? Mine was only 16 so I believe my Pancreas isn't making enough enzymes to digest my food and that's why it seems to be helping me. At least I'm able to eat now.... I'm still afraid to try fried foods. This disease will cause us to question our sanity because most of our doctors are not up to date on Pancreatitis and don't believe us. Hope you feel better soon and I'll keep you in my prayers. I'd like to try Creon again and see if it helps. I ate a low-fat cranberry muffin yesterday for breakfast, and that was it for the day, aside from juice and some Jello last night. Nothing yet today but water (I'm trying to hard to follow the " stay hydrated " hint from here!). Last night and today the pain is both in my gut and between my shoulder blades, which is unusual - the only time I had it there before was during my gall bladder problems. I told my husband last night if they can't figure something out soon, they're at least gonna have to put me on anti-depressants, b/c I am in a serious funk. I know it's situational, but if my situation isn't gonna change, something's gotta give. Thanks for the advice and support! ~Shanon

I don't have that pain all the time but whenever I do it is miserable...mine seems to get worse when gas builds up and that's why I take Phazyme daily. I understand there is a nerve that runs from the Pancreas to the shoulder. I don't have a gallbladder either so I know it is just another symptom of Pancreatitis....unfortunately, one of M-A-N-Y! For the past six months, the only thing I eat for breakfast is two hard-boiled eggs (whites only) and I seem to be able to tolerate them with no problem. Believe it or not, they keep me going until lunch and then I'll have a piece of boiled skinless chicken breast and nonfat peach yogurt. If I were you, I'd phone my doctor and ask him to call in a prescription of Creon for you to try....can't hurt and it just might help you as it has me. Today has been nothing but juice, some decaf tea, yogurt at lunch and jello at dinner. I rarely want to eat any more, and that bothers me, b/c I know it's not healthy. But when I make myself eat, I regret it. I'm going to go the whole weekend like that, adding maybe some protein drinks, and see how I feel on Monday. If I still hurt, I'm going to call for a trial of Creon again. Thanks again for all the advice! ~Shanon
