Guest guest
Ginny, Have you told your surgeon you are hurting? I had absolutely no pain what so ever with my mastectomy. They also took out 23 lymph nodes. I didn't even take pain pills of any kind, not even in the hospital. As far as the numbness, Its 16 yrs for me and I still have numbness on the back of my arm and part of my back. I will keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
Hi Ginny, I didn't have a matectomy, but I had removal of all lymph nodes and the pain is better, but not all gone and I haven't recovered all movement. My physical therapist says it takes over a year for full recovery... But she says it will come back, the movement and the feeling. I am doing my exercises and hoping. Guest guest
Are you referring to the mastectomey arm?? LIke right behind the armpit?? Have you been doing any exercises in stretching the arm?? Are you on a pain medicine??? Are you able to stay ahead of the pain?? Some pain is good, that tells you your body is working on healing. Now if there is a warmth to your skin in the pain area, I would question that with a doc. I was almost completely pain free by end of May. I was back to work in less than a month. Did you have any drainage in your wound site?? I hope these questions help. smile, Sandy --- GinnyG wrote: > like does your arm go back to feeling better and > also does your mastectomy side stop hurting after a > awhile? > Re: mastectomy > > > > Ginny, > What type of info are you looking for?? Guest guest
Hi Ginny, I had a mastectomy in Nov. 05 I remember having phantom pains for a couple of months on that side. My arm also didn't have total range of movement for a while. I had a sentinel node biopsy with 2 lymph nodes removed. Possibly if you had more lymph nodes removed it might hurt more. How long has it been since your mastectomy? -

Guest guest
good morning everyone. I am 35 yrs old. About a month ago I found a lump in my breast, because of how crazy my life is, I just went to have a Mammography done. They did find the lump now they want to run more test so we can find out if it is cancer. My grandmother had breast cancer. She had a partial mastectomy. So I am very concern about what I found. But the doctors won't do an ultra sound until the 19th. I don't know if I can wait that long. it is driving me crazy. Nothing can happen to me, mine children need me. So it may not be as serious as the other women. I just would like some words of wisdom. & nne Svihlik wrote: Welcome to the group. Guest guest
Welcome to the group. Eighty percent of all lumps are NOT cancerous. But its best to get the other tests just to be sure especially with breast cancer in your family history. Can you call the dr and tell him the wait is stressing you out and ask to have it moved up? Or ask for something for your nerves? Waiting is the worst part along with fear of the unknown. I will keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
Dear Signia, The waiting is the worst part. While it's not ruled out, the fact that you had your children before the age of 35 reduces your breast cancer risk statistically. That's not to say it can't happen, as many woman here will attest to, but it does lower the risk. Couple that with the fact that about 80% of lumps turn out to be benign, and maybe the waiting will get just a tiny bit easier. Even if it does turn out to be breast cancer, that is not as horrible as it used to be. There are many treatments that cause total remission of the cancer. I am going through chemotherapy, with radiation to follow. I have a six year old son, whom I home school, and he is an Active boy (yikes). The only time I feel puny is the few days right after chemo - the rest of the time, I've really been able to keep the " mom " thing going. Well. . .. , I have been sending out some of the laundry. I had a mastectomy, and too much folding makes my side ache. Keep us posted. We are always listening. --- signia rodriguez wrote: > good morning everyone. I am 35 yrs old.
