Guest guest
I've been on SCD for five years and haven't tolerated anything raw yet [grin]. Well, except for fruit juices -- but I have to dilute by 500% and strain twice to remove the fiber. So not sure that counts. Nor do I plan to be able to, as my digestive disorders are functional, and won't get any better. Symptom management as all I can hope for, and eating everything cooked or juiced is the only way for me. Believe me, I am thankful I have reached stable symptom management, and I don't mind my restrictions. But of more relevance to your question is that it took me 3 years to hit that point when I felt my digestion was as fixed as it could be, when my symptoms and blood work stablized. Kim M. Guest guest
This diet has been very constipating for me. I can't eat raw anything and even cooked ones don't sit well. What do I do about it? The grains were the one thing that helped keep me regular. I'm also wondering about the calories and nutrition on the muffins and other things in the cook book. I don't see anything about it in the recipes. Thanks .To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Wednesday, March 18, 2009 7:04:22 AMSubject: Re:Re: Raw fruits and veggies I've been on SCD for five years and haven't tolerated anything raw yet [grin]. Guest guest
Hi : This is my problem also, although I am much better now after almost 1 year on the diet. What can help you are dried prunes (cooked), prune nectar, Miralax which draws the water from your body to bring it to your gut (can be bought at your drug store if you live in the States). You would eat 2 or 3 prunes before breakfast or drink a little diluted prune nectar. Good luck, GERDS and chronic C SCD 11.5 months > > This diet has been very constipating for me.
