Guest guest
Why would it work for me and not others if there’s an ongoing problem with the software? The automated program running that list, called ezlm, is definitely working. It certainly was earlier tonight when I signed off. The owner of the list is no longer the owner of the list, I was told (by Gay). But no one else has taken it over (or shut it down). Yet. I neglected to mention that if a person is getting the digest version, you need to use this address to sign off: SCD-list-digest-subscribe@... n From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of jodah235 Sent: Sunday, March 29, 2009 9:49 PM To: BTVC-SCD Subject: Re: How to get off the Long Island list Hi n, The problem is is that some users even after following these steps cannot disconnect from the Listerve due to there being a problem with the software on the list's side. Marilyn is doing her best handling this situation which has become super frustrating as some are directing negativity and anger towards her. Which is so uncalled for. Marilyn cannot manually do all of this- that is ridiculous to even consider, as it is she puts in an incredible amount of time helping all of us. Anyway, she is not even the owner of the list. Makes me sick just thinking of how she feels being put in this position. The owner of the list is going through some trying times personally so the list is not on her top priority right now which I completely understand especially when users become nasty. The next suggestion if users cannot disconnect was that people put a spam filter on the list so all of the emails will go directly into a spam folder and get automatically deleted, that way users that want to unsubscribe and can't don't have to be bothered with emails from the list. And Marilyn and Gay don't have to keep telling people over and over again what to do. This turned out to also be unsatisfactory. I think this is a difficult situation and we all have to do our best to make the best of it. We are dealing with many details out of Marilyn's or anyones control. There are also many many sick people and to be subjected to this non-sense is pathetic. I thank you for posting the directions here and if you have any ideas please share. Turet still owns the list, but due to health issues that have nothing to do with her cured UC, she has been unable to participate on the Long Island List. That is why I opened this list, so that SCDers would have a place to gather and share information and support. was told that the SCD-list@... list server had been sold and that the list would be shut down. For whatever reason, it continues to function... which I am pleased for, since it is mentioned in every copy of BTVC. I continue to help out over there because it was my original SCD home. But running it did not come with an operating manual! So I'm very glad that you tinkered around, n, and discovered what the missing step was. Yeah, isn’t it amazing how they insist on doing that?! n
