Guest guest
I started the regular SCD diet about 6 weeks ago. At that point I wasn't having D like I am now. I was running to the bathroom about 20 times a day with off and on B and very small amounts of liquid. My current flare began in January after a visit to a Thai restaurant. I was doing great before that, mostly formed, little to no blood, and a couple of BM a day. Since the morning after the Thai dinner I have had the worst flare ever in my life, since 15 years old when I was diagnosed with UC. I am on colocort enemas twice a day, and colazol 9 capsules a day. Having a hard time keeping the enemas in, but more successful lately. I have been on the intro for well over 2 weeks, tweeking it as suggested by people in the group. I have taken out a lot of things such as carrots, juice, eggs, switched to beef, etc, and no improvements. Thanks for your interest in trying to help. Anymore thoughts? Thanks,To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Tuesday, March 24, 2009 12:02:29 PMSubject: Re: Addendum to Pepto Bismol? > I feel that I need to add that I don't eat any vegetable but > zucchini cooked and pureed. Anymore thoughts?try Charcoal and Epsom salt bathstry pepto bismol try vitamin e enemas by carlson - google it to see what I mean. try legal Vitamin d3 and Vitamin e - although some people are sensitive to the latter.Read up on LDNhttp://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lowdosenaltrexone/I'd probably put eggs back in if taking them out didn't help any. Clearlythey are not the cause. In fact, I'd try eating a soft boiled egg in the meat broth. Mara
Guest guest
Hi Mara,Thanks for the tips. I actually have done quite a bit of research on LDN.I was turned down by 2 GI's and my primary doctor, even with infoI gave them. I am uncomfortable not being followed by a doctor while on it.I don't have any doctors in my area that are on the prescriber's list.I would LOVE to try it but running into obstacles.I was hoping to hang on to SCD and see if that would do it. Am I being silly to continue the diet at this point? Any other ideas about getting LDN from a doc?One I can see in person? I am in Fairfax, Va., outside DC.Thank you,Sent from my iPhone I started the regular SCD diet about 6 weeks ago. At that point I wasn't having D like I am now. Guest guest
Have you tried eating very ripe banana? Some people find that helpful for D. It's only a stage 1 food, so you might be able to tolerate it okay. If you add eggs back in, you can make a banana pancake (although that might be too much fat, I'm not sure). Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > I feel that I need to add that I don't eat any vegetable but zucchini cooked and pureed. The only fruit I was eating was baked and pureed apples for applesauce, and even quit that couple of days ago to see what would happen. So far nothing different. The only thing I am eating is the chx soup with the zucchini, farmer's chz (which I took out and added back in because it too didn't seem to make a difference), and no eggs still at this point to see if that makes a difference, which at this point it has been 3 days and no improvement. So my diet is , as you can see, hardly anything and I feel awful. I am drinking water, no diluted juice. I don't know what else to do. I have visited SCD links to almost everything I think, looking for ideas and don't know what to try. Guest guest
I was thinking, since you got worse after eating out, could it be possible that you picked up some sort of bacterial infection or parasite? Have you been checked for things like C. Diff? I just read an article that said how someone contaminated with C. Diff (like hospital staff wearing scrubs) can easily leave it behind on tables and chairs, and that the cleaners restaurants use aren't strong enough to kill it. Guest guest
Good thought. I will ask my GI about that. If it does turn out to be C. DiffHow do they treat that? Antibiotics? Or even a bacterial infection?Would that make my gut worse?Sent from my iPhone I was thinking, since you got worse after eating out, could it be possible that you picked up some sort of bacterial infection or parasite?
