Interesting how you wnat to " add more and more " . At my heaviest, if I

walked this 21/2

mile route in the neighborhood, I was exhausted afterwoods, my ankles

hure. In the fall, I

was doing good - I was running, i dunno - 2/3, 3/4 of this route,

intermixing walking. This

weekend, with the weather finally cooperating a little, I said - I'll

run as far as I can

go w/o walking - and I ran the whole darn thing!!!! On the treadmill,

sometimes I'll

slow down to a walking pace and after 2-3 minutes, be itching to get the

pace

back up to a run again. I

never,never,never,never,never,never,never,never,never,never,

never, never, never, never, never, never (ok, that's enough) pictured myselft

a runner - so

this is all amazing to me.

Each to their own, but I do agree that at some point if you try it for

a while, you can get the " bug " .

I just so wanted to jump in here and say how much I admire you running folks!

I have always idolized runners and down the road I plan to join you. Just need

to make sure my knees can handle it because right now I know they can't.

Keep up the good work and the running threads. I love it!

Mine couldn't handle it when I was heavy, either. However did you know

you can do water running? Yeah! Tehre are even special vests you can buy

that will hold you in the proper position.

Walking is great preparation, though. You just never know where this

journey is going to take you...I never DREAMED it would take me to the

starting line of a road race!

You know...I used to love to do step aerobics. However it was so hard on my

ankles, etc. that I quit. I started water aerobics a few months back and

LOVE it! It's easier on all my body parts, I get a great workout (they say

you work something like 60% harder in the water), and I'm back in the water

after years (I used to love to seim....then gained all this weight and was

afraid to go out in a swimsuit).

I have to admit, Terri, that since I've been swimming (for a whole two

weeks) I'm kind of liking it. There is this " freedom " feeling in water.

It's quiet (in the mornings during lap swim) and it's just kind of " You

and the water. " I might actually try a water aerobics class some time.
