Guest guest
Dr. Fuhrman states in his book that.....fasting not only allows the fibroid to shrink, but also often sets into motion a process in which the fibroid continues to shrink after the fast. The pain and pressure from fibroids and the excessive bleeding predictably respond to this method of care. He uses this approach for many serious illnesses and has seen tremendous results. Throughout the book he states that it is important that patients continue on a diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, raw nuts and seeds to maintain good health. He indicates that symptoms/illnesses will return if the patient returns to eating high fat, processed, sugar foods, etc. Loretta
Guest guest
Just because someone with an M.D. after his name writes it in a book, and someone has results (or thinks they do) does not make it true. This is just anecdotal evidence. Remember with any medical condition one of three things can happen: It can get better (and the people pushing some sort of " cure " will point to that as their " cure's " success It can stay the same (the people pushing the " cure " will say that the " cure " stopped the condition from getting worse) It can get worse (the people pushing the " cure " can say, that they got to the patient too late) > Dr. Fuhrman states in his book that.....fasting not only allows the fibroid to shrink, but also often sets into motion a process in which the fibroid continues to shrink after the fast. Guest guest
Yes, that's certainly true about anecdotal evidence, but it certainly would be worth a try. I do notice that if I eat just a little too much or gain a little weight, that my fibroids bother me more. I did try a fast once for 7 days, before I knew that I had fibroids, and just wonder how anyone can go without eating for TWO WEEKS! I drank juices and took supplements, but still, the hunger's a bit hard to live with. Maybe I'll try it again for a week and see if I notice an improvement. I've got an appointment for an ultra sound for next Monday. I'll talk to my doctor then - maybe he'll schedule another one for a week or 2 after that. Guest guest
If you are considering fasting for your fibroids, please consider buying Dr. Fuhrman's book, " Fasting and Eating for Health - A Medical Doctor's Program for Conquering Disease " . You can buy it at Amazon.com or on his website. It is an excellent book with a lot of good nutrition information as well. He has instructions to your doctor who should monitor any fast longer than 3 days and what you can expect, who should fast, how long, how to break the fast, side effects, medicine, etc. He has another excellent book...new... " Eat to Live " . He also has a video, " The Greatest Diet on Earth " . The fast is water only. (distilled) If you go on a fast that includes juice or anything other than water, you will not lose the hunger. Usually hunger fades in 2 or 3 days. Dr. Fuhrman states that the fast lasts as long as the patient's " nutritional reserves " last....monitored by a physician. He usually recommends 2 weeks. Throughout the book, Dr. Fuhrman states that you have to remove the cause so that your body can heal itself. He indicates that by removing food (the body's energy)....that the body will feed on any other non-essential tissue (I can't remember his exact wording) for energy....so the body will use the tumor as a source of energy. He states that if a person is very overweight however that it is uncertain whether this will work or not....as the body will use the fat stores as the primary energy source rather than the tumor. For overweight patients, he suggests an excellent diet (fruit, veg, whole grains, raw seeds and nuts) for some months prior to fasting. After they are in better shape, they can undertake the fast and expect more predictable results. " The nutritional and hormonal changes that occur in the fasting state, especially as body fat stores are largely depleted, cause the body to recognize noncancerous tumors and target and tap them as a source of extra (unessential) tissue for nourishment. " He states that this has also worked well for benign tumors such as: nasal polyps, lipomas, ovarian tumors, benign tumors of the breast. He mentions that it may not be effective on cancerous tumors. This is the first that I've heard about fasting and fibroids. However, personally...diet has had an impact on my symptoms. Since September, I have become a total vegan...eating fresh fruit, veggies, whole grains, raw seeds and nuts. (85% raw foods / 15% cooked) After about 8 weeks of eating this way, all of my fibroid symptoms left. If I go back to eating foods that I did before....the symptoms begin returning. The fibroids are still there. I've lost 70 pounds and when I get a few more pounds off.....I may try this fast. " > He has to say that it " may " not be effective on cancerous tumors. Can you imagine the lawsuits when people follow this advice and then die from their cancer?
